Premier League football matches postponed due to death of Queen Elizabeth II

Due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II , the Premier League will postpone all scheduled football matches this weekend and Monday .

“In a meeting this morning, Premier League clubs paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” the league said in a statement. “In honour of her extraordinary life and service to the country, and as a sign of respect, this weekend’s Premier League games will be postponed, including Monday night.”

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: “We and our club would like to pay tribute to Her Majesty The Queen’s long and unwavering service to our country. The league added that its approach was “consistent with what the FA and the EFL will do at games this weekend.”

It concluded that “an update on the fixtures during the official mourning period in the country will be provided in due course”.

Meanwhile, West End theatres in London and across the country will continue to perform as scheduled, but many are paying tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth , the London Theatre Society and British Theatre, two groups representing the industry, said late Thursday .
