In Week 2 of the NFL preseason, pay attention to who is on the sidelines in addition to the players who are making the most of their chances on the field. Sometimes a team’s decision to put a contender in a position fight indicates that someone has already won the job.

The Carolina Panthers have a starting competition between quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold. Last week, the former played a series and the latter had two drives. If neither of them steal the spotlight on Friday, what does that mean?

Among Friday’s active participants, a rookie made another splash with a touchdown in the preseason for weeks in a row. He will continue to rise on the fantasy draft board. Additionally, an undrafted rookie continues to fight for a spot on his team’s final roster.

Let’s dive into the biggest takeaways from Friday’s three exhibition games.

After an awkward possession, the New England Patriots had a touchdown that included a touchdown on the ground and a four-pointer Wide receiver Nelson Aglore 45 yards from a precise pass from defender Mike Jones.

Jones didn’t play in Week 1 In the preseason game against the New York Giants, he had a rough start on Friday, Had 3 incomplete passes and was sacked on the team’s first two possessions, but the Patriots should be heartened by his brilliance and 7-yard scramble on Agholor while the Carolina Panthers team’s territory.

Additionally, Ty Montgomery showed himself a double threat in the backcourt in the first half, recording a catch for 5 yards and a catch 4 yards 13 yards, touchdown.

The Patriots offense struggled at the start of training camp, Jones expressed his dissatisfaction to reporters. Against the Blues last week, New England racked up 308 yards and 21 points in the loss.

Jones shows off his arms and some mobility against the Panthers, and the offense seems to be heading in the right direction. New England doesn’t even have uniformed starting tackles Trent Brown and Isaiah Wynn. Also, Agholor could be the deep threat we’ve seen with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020, averaging 18.7 yards per catch. Last year, he averaged 12.8 yards per catch.

Working after offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who replaced Raiders head coach, leaves, Patriots will rely on senior Consultant Matt Patricia and quarterbacks coach Joe Judge came to direct the game and boost the offense as Jones entered his second season.

In the past, the team is in the penultimate preseason game (the third four games) and will That outing was designated as a rehearsal for the regular season. Now, with just three exhibition games, some clubs will extend the time of their first-team players this week.

Carolina Panthers Different Approach. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that teams will play second and third liners on Friday, but the Panthers also sit in Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold against the Patriots.

With Mayfield and Darnold on the sidelines, head coach Matt Ruhler may have decided who will be on the first week Started against the Cleveland Browns.

Carolina named Mayfield as a starter, according to Jeff Howe and Joseph Person of The Athletic.

Last week, Mayfield completed 1 of 7 passing attempts for 45 yards against the Washington Commanders 4 times and recovered a miss in the red zone. Darnold followed behind him, completing two-thirds of his passes for 16 yards and a touchdown.

Maybe the coaching staff has seen enough practice to make a firm decision between Mayfield and Darnold. If Carolina’s quarterback game remains open, the two signalmen could be on the field Friday. We can hear an official announcement in the coming days.

For weeks in a row, Romeo Dubs made Touchdowns – Green Bay Packers fans and fantasy football managers take note.

Dubs hit odds on a 33-yard reception against the San Francisco 49ers last week , beat safety Tavarius Moore to score from behind in the fourth. In that game, he converted seven goals into three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown.

Friday, against the New Orleans Saints, quarterback Jordan Love continues to target the Dubs in the passing game , scored with his four-yard pass in the second quarter. The rookie opened the scoring on his second 17-yard catch of the day in Game 1 of that game, but tight end Tyler Davis’ possession penalty destroyed the game.

The Doubs responded well to star quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ criticism of the young receiver. The group had some falling issues ahead of Friday’s game. The Dubs conceded the ball from Rodgers on Tuesday (h/t Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette ).

Rodgers may have to deal with the ups and downs of his inexperienced wide receiver, though the Dubs appear most poised to contribute in 2022. The rookie fourth-rounder has had his best offseason so far as a first-year receiver in Green Bay. Rookie second-rounder Christian Watson has spent a lot of time on the physically unable to perform list after knee surgery. On Friday, he warmed up but wasn’t ready for the game. In two preseason games, rookie seventh-rounder Samori Toure completed three passes for 42 yards.

If you’re looking for a Packers rookie receiver to hit the field right away, the Dubs is definitely the guy.

With star receiver Davante Adams this offseason Away, the Green Bay Packers will likely rely heavily on the ground game, which means running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon have a lot of touches.

As running back Kirin Hill continues to recover from a tear on the physically unenforceable roster, Green Bay should find a solid No. Three guards in case Jones or Dillon miss time during the regular season. Undrafted rookie Tyler Goodson has good reason to secure a roster so far.

For weeks on end, Goodson led Green Bay’s game back to the rush yard. On Friday, against the New Orleans Saints, he ran for 52 yards, including a 10-yard catch and a 15-yard run. Products in Iowa carry an average of 4.2 yards per carry.

On the depth chart, Goodson will push third-year running back Patrick Taylor, who saw Hill tear in October Taking some action after removing his ACL. Taylor recorded 11 for 53 yards and a touchdown against the Detroit Lions in the Packers’ 2021 season finale.

Although the Dubs had an impressive offseason, except for 12th-year pro Randall Cobb and the often-injured 9th-year veteran Outside of Sammy Watkins, the Packers have some question marks at wide receiver. The third running back in this offense may be more valuable than it has been in past seasons. Goodson has the opportunity to fill the role.

This is another fantasy football nugget. As the second wide receiver on the Houston Texans offense, Nico Collins looks ready to make the leap in his second year.

Quarterback Davis Mills comes on through the first 30 minutes of Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams and builds up with Collins With a strong connection, Collins hauled four of six targets for 48 yards and a touchdown before halftime. Brandin Cook may lead the Texans in the upcoming campaign, but fantasy managers should Look at Collins late in the draft. He has an average draft position of 14.12 (h/t Fantasy Football Calculator) and should have a solid target count on the perimeter opposite Cook. Remember, the Texans took rookie second-round wide receiver John May while on treatment for acute promyelocytic leukemia Qi III included in the non-football injury list. He will likely miss the 2022 season. If Mills had a good pitching year, Collins could get solid catch numbers after last year, when he finished 33 times Passed for 446 yards and a touchdown.
