Prince Harry tells Stephen Colbert Princess Diana won't allow his current feud with William

Prince Harry talks about his complicated family dynamics and his relationship with wife Meghan Markle in an interview with CBS My Life)’ Late Show With Stephen Colbert promoting his new memoir, spare .

During the interview, which aired on Tuesday, the Duke of Sussex discussed his public debate involving his brother Prince William’s rift , Colbert asked their late mother Princess Diana if she was alive, How would she handle this moment. References to William in the book include Harry recalling

years ago that the brothers were discussing how the media had been covering Markle.

“We’re not going to get to this point,” Harry told Colbert of how their mother would intervene. “It’s impossible to say where we would be now, where those relationships would be, but the distance between me and my brother can’t be the same.”

Harry —who, at 38, was two years older than Diana at the time of her death—continued, “During the last two Over the past year, I have felt more for her than in the past 30.”

He also discusses the tension that William and himself sometimes felt needed to cover up their mother’s death. “Anyone who’s been traumatized, shocked, sad, lost, we’ve all been there, we all will be, and you have to face it,” Harry said.

Other topics addressed in the lengthy chat include Colbert asking Harry about his choices in the book, mentioning the number of kills he made while flying Apache helicopters in Afghanistan as part of the British Army. Harry, who was criticized for that passage in the book, has been an advocate for wounded military personnel for years and invited veterans to his Late Show recording .

“I chose to share it because, after nearly two decades of working with veterans around the world, I believe that the most important thing is to be honest and able to give space where they can share their experiences without shame,” he explained. “My whole goal and attempt to share these details is to reduce the number of suicides.”

At the end of the conversation, Colbert asked Harry if he had watched the last few Episode The Crown, Harry said he had seen it. When Colbert then asked if he was fact-checking while watching the show, Harry confirmed, “Yes, I do.” 1235291558
