Pros react after Robert Whittaker beats Marvin Vittori at UFC Paris

Robert Whittaker, Marvin Vettori

Today’s UFC Paris match between former champion Robert Whittaker and Marvin Vittori (Marvin Vettori) co-lead in a key middleweight matchup.

Whittaker (24-6 MMA) entered the bout, hoping to bounce back after his second career loss to Israel’s Adesanya at UFC 271 in February. Before that setback, the Reaper had three straight unanimous decision wins over opponents Darren Thiel, Jared Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelham.

Meanwhile, Marvin Vittori (18-6-1 MMA) last fought 11 months ago in a unanimous decision win over Paulo Costa. Before that victory, the “Italian Dream” was coming off his second career loss to defending middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Tonight’s UFC Paris co-main event turns out to be a former champ from Robert Whittaker. “The Reaper” looks great in stand-up and is also able to showcase his world-class knockdown defense. Marvin Vettori looked frustrated but, as always, showed great enthusiasm. In the end, Whitaker won the unanimous decision of the judges present.

Leaning on Whittaker in the first round thinking he’s going to start pulling the next two

— Matt Brown (@IamTheImmortal) September 3, 2022

Whitaker kicked Marvin in the body with his right foot. Marvin’s left hand is very low and needs to be careful with a high right kick to the head

— Henry Cejudo (@HenryCejudo) September 3, 2022

Whitaker getting comfortable 2-0. If Marvin wants to win this fight, he has to go all out and take risks in his pocket. #ufcparis

Whitaker picks up the pace. So clean with 1-2 pipes. basic. Fundamentals. Then there’s that tricky/smooth ipsilateral header behind it. #UFCParis
