UFC legend Rashad Evans talks about a big mistake he made trying to lose weight for a fight.
The weight loss process in MMA is often, well, scary. It’s strenuous, it affects the body, and it has long-term effects.
Alas, the best have been doing it for years, including Rashad Evans.
The former UFC champion returned to the cage earlier this year with Eagle FC, but for the most part, he has transitioned into the world of specialists.
In his prime, though, he was one of the best available at 205 pounds.
He has worked so hard to earn such a reputation that in a recent interview he opened up about how badly he messed up one of his previous weight loss.

“You know what happened to me one time? I’m losing weight and I think I’m doing great. I Cut early, I’ll be fine, finish early, right? So I’m done before Keith Jardine, we’re fighting on the same card, and Greg’s like ‘Listen, go hang out in the room and relax until We’re back’. I was like, no, I’ll be here for you guys, I’ll be a team player. He said ok cool, just don’t jump in the pool. I was like why and he said don’t jump in the pool , your weight will come back.
Evans screwed up
“I like no, no way. So, look, I didn’t believe him, I jumped in the pool, man, I gained a pound and a half. Your body just absorbs it. It was so hard [to get rid of it again], I cried. I was in the room crying and Greg saw it, I told you so! “
