Jets coach Robert Saleh says Chris Strivelle had “one of the greatest preseason games in football history”. Streveler became a preseason legend in New York, completing 72.7 percent of his passes for 277 yards, five touchdowns and a 120.9 passer rating while leading them in rushing.
He engineered three comeback victories, pitched game-winners with 16 and 22 seconds left, and finished with a 16-16 in Game 2 of the preseason 3 leads the team.
Streveler did do at least enough to earn a spot on some teams’ practice classes, but he didn’t make the Jets’ 53-player roster.
The Jets have notified Streveler of his release on Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
The Jets have Joe Flacco and Mike White behind Zach Wilson, who is currently injured.
