Edwards and Covington’s most recent fight
Leon Edwards (21-3, one no fight) defended his welterweight title for the first time in London in March, defeating Kamaru Usman by a majority. Previously, he head kicked KO Usman in the fifth round and won the gold belt. Edwards is on a 10-match unbeaten run for the title, beating Nate Diaz, Rafael dos Anjos, Vincent Luke and Gunnar Nelson. He also had a no-fight against Belal Muhammad due to an accidental dazzle.
Colby Covington (17-3) has not played since March 2022 in a decision win over Jorge Masvidal. After losing to Kamaru Usman in the welterweight title fight, a win over Masvidal put him back on the winning streak. “Chaos” is just 2-2 in his past four fights, with his other win being a TKO over Tyronn Woodley and another loss being a TKO over Usman for the welterweight title. During his career, Covington was the UFC’s former interim middleweight champion with multiple wins over the likes of Dos Anjos, Robbie Lawler and Demian Maia.
