A-listers on the red carpet were encouraged to dress “In Honor of Karl,” and inside, guests got a first look at the Met’s new exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: Lines of Beauty,” exploring his work at Chanel , Fendi, Chloe and other fashion companies. Spotted leaving a restaurant last night, Rihanna happened to be wearing pieces from Chanel’s fall 400 collection, designed by Lagerfeld himself. She’s wearing a Chanel cropped faux fur jacket (black and white, Lagerfeld’s signature combo!) and tacky “CC” logo sunglasses, which can be had for over $3, on 1stDibs.
Rihanna accessorized vintage Chanel pieces with a furry white Coperni dress, strappy Amina Muaddi pumps and a custom faux fur hat by Benny Andallo — The kitschy milliner has previously designed hats for FKA Twigs and Rihanna. But it’s those coveted ‘400’s Chanel pieces that couldn’t be more fitting for the Met Gala. Is this her hint that she’ll be on those iconic Met steps tomorrow? Only time will tell.
