Rihanna on Savage x Fenty Volume 4, Becoming a New Mom and the Super Bowl

Waiting for Rihanna’s reporters is a tiring trope, so let’s get that part out of the way: Yes, she arrives after midnight for Savage x Fenty Volume 4, 9pm call time. No, no one is angry. How can we? Here’s what we’re talking about Rihanna , one of our newest self-made billionaires thanks to her beauty and fashion empire, she has The plans for us: an upcoming Super Bowl show, some new music just released (more on that later), Wednesday’s premiere of Savage x Fenty Volume 4, and yes, a brand new one baby. She is busy.

She is also tired. That’s only fair considering she takes work calls from the delivery room about new loungewear designs. Not that she looks tired. “I thought I’d go back to work right away, and I did,” she said on the soundstage of a pre-show interview, impeccably dressed in a croc-embossed Alaïa miniskirt. “Then I rested for a while, then came back, and now I’m back outside.” It was a new type of tiredness, though—this mom was tired. “I used to get tired and just keep going and keep going. It’s uncontrollable tiredness. Your body is shutting down. Just recently, I spent three days in a row in the studio — like, Sleeping in the studio – Finishing a song because it’s a very important project for me. Get out. I believe in it, I want to be a part of it, so I finish Take it.” That song, ‘Lift Me Up’, a lullaby-like ballad, was written by Tems, Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna and director Ryan Coogler for Wakanda Forever, in It declined in late October. Variety reports that she curated the film’s soundtrack, just as Kendrick Lamar did for the first Black Panther film. Or as Rihanna shudders again: “We’re back outside .”

Savage x Fenty Volume 4 Premiering Nov. 9 on Prime Video and featuring models such as Precious Lee, Cara Delevingne, Joan Smalls, Irina Shayk, Zach Miko and Lara Stone; Marsai Martin, Simu Liu, Damson Idris, Taraji P. In early November, it was revealed that Johnny Depp had also been added to the cast. (He went to OutKast’s “So Fresh, So Clean.”) Rihanna was proud of the production, she told Vogue. “It looks really good. It’s beautiful. It’s one of those things you say you want to do, logistically impossible, but somehow we made it happen.”
