Riley Keough appeared in Hollywood on Thursday night for the world premiere of her new Prime Video TV series, Daisy Jones & the Six , marking her red carpet debut since the sudden death of her mother Lisa Marie Presley in January . The scene was also spectacular as the TCL Chinese Theater was packed with guests dressed to match the ‘1000, while Keough and her co-stars get a production that includes Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon Team support.
Keough wears Schiaparelli couture and is accompanied by husband Ben Smith-Petersen to play Daisy Jones, a ‘ rock band. Based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & The Six details the band’s early days of hard work and rapid success The Rising Small Show culminated in a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field. After that show, the band shocked fans by announcing their exit. Keough star opposite Sam Claflin, Camila Morrone, Will Harrison, Suki Waterhouse, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastian Chacon, Nabiyah Be, Tom Wright and Timothy Olyphant etc.
In a brief interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Keough was upbeat and expressed his involvement Part of the enthusiastic
“It was really weird,” Keough explained, alongside a personal publicist and her stylist, Jamie Mizrahi. “Before I knew what the book was about, or even read the script or anything, I knew I wanted to play her. I just heard the name and thought, ‘I’m going to play her. I just knew I’m going to play her. I feel the same way when I know I’m going to marry my husband.”
Daisy Jones asked a lot of Keough as a performer , as she needs to play everything from dramatic moments to epic scenes opposite bandmates and label executives. As for how she did it, Keogh was quick to give “all credit” to the show’s “fantastic musical team,” which includes Tony Berg and Blake Mills.
“They taught us to sing, we went to band camp,” explained Keogh, whose family tree ends with the greatest ever in Elvis. One of America’s rock stars featured Presley. “They basically turned us into rock stars.”
Keough’s Daisy Jones & the Six‘s collaborators said they felt similarly about her when casting the show – they just knew she was the one. Prior to Daisy Jones, Keough’s credits included Zola, The Terminal List, American Honey, The Girlfriend Experience, Mad Max: Fury Road, It Comes at Night and Logan Lucky , etc.
“I couldn’t speak highly enough of Riley Keogh,” praises Circle of Confusion executive producer Brad Mendelsohn. “She was transformative on this show. When she auditioned for us, we didn’t watch it anymore. She was our Daisy Jones. Her rep called us and said she had read the book and she was Daisy. Cy Jones. We all said, ‘Yeah, sure, let’s meet her. And we didn’t really audition for the other guy.'”
Reid said Keough Perfect for the character she created. “What’s really gratifying is that she makes it look so easy, which I know isn’t easy. She’s saddled with so many scenes like this, but she makes it look like it didn’t cost her money at all. That’s her. I mean so sincerely, I think she’s one of the most talented actresses of this generation,” gushed the bestselling author. “I know some actors have to learn swagger, and that feels like Riley’s DNA. What Riley can’t teach is that she’s cool. That’s not something anyone can fake. She’s just cool.”
James Ponsoldt, who directed the first five episodes and served as executive producer, said the series couldn’t work without the most talented cast members, which is their collaboration with Keough and Claflin.
“This show wouldn’t work if you didn’t have someone who was vibrant, charismatic and soulful, and someone who could also be so vulnerable in front of so many people People. That’s what we look for in a rock star. We want a preacher who can be an ecstasy, a shaman, a televangelist, someone who can come from the heart. Those are the people we connect with, Riley Got it – she really got it. She and Sam were playing ping pong with each other, which was really exciting because they were both lead singers. The lead singer used to be the center of any conversation, and it was very much about two people Learn to swallow their ego, listen to the person next to them and try to coordinate to create something better than themselves. They succeed.”
Daisy Jones & the Six premieres March 3rd on Prime Video with new episodes released every Friday through March70.
