Cast of Prime Video to stand in solidarity with the apparent racist threats faced by performers on the show.
A message posted to the project’s Twitter account on Wednesday strongly condemned the cast of color on the series racist response. The statement stressed that despite criticism to the contrary online, author JRR Tolkien has created a “multicultural” world in which people from different backgrounds And people of race can go hand in hand.
“We, the cast of Rings of Power , are absolutely united against relentless racism, threats , harassment and abuse some of our actors of color suffer on a daily basis,” the statement read. “We refuse to ignore or tolerate it.”
The message continued, “JRR Tolkien has created a world that is by definition multicultural. In this world, people from different races Unite with the free people of culture and defeat the forces of evil in friendship. Our world is never all white, fantasies are never all white, and Middle-earth is never all white.”
