If you’ve seen it, you’ve heard of Wienners
‘s high-energy horror rock opening theme “Faction”. But while they are relatively new to anisong, Wienners have been offering their unique punks since Rock and electronic music fusion brand . In addition to providing the end credits theme for the new anime, they’ve recently released their latest full-length LP, TREASURE, so they’re set to have a busy year. ANN was able to ask the band about their unique influences, their approach to themes for anime, and their rock history.
Venus has a very Distinctive rock band sound. How did the band develop such a fusion of punk, rock, and electronica? Have you had any other musicians or bands that inspired your approach?
I was looking at record stores for bands or units that combine elements of both music, but I couldn’t find anything, so I decided to start mine Own band, this is the beginning of Wienners.
Wienners‘s music is “electronic elements and synthesizers and other types of music like Hip-hop samples are integrated into the sound of the band and output with a punk approach and intensity.” This is the axis of Wienners music. Wienners‘ The core of music has always been punk music, but recently EDM, Dubstep, and mixed world music such as Gqom, Singeli, etc., are gaining momentum in the international music industry fierce. The club scene is also a hit in my mind, so I’m now incorporating all these jumbles into the sound of our band.
The most recent Wienners song has become The theme of the TV anime “Faction” in and “Shinobi Top Secret” in ” )), is there any difference in recording these tracks compared to other songs?
“Top Secret Ninja” was used in an anime about ninjas, but with slightly different futuristic nuances than actual traditional ninjas, So I exaggerated Japanese taste to express a more exciting, outsider view of Japan. Also, because the theme of the song is ninja, I secretly added the name of an anime character to the B melody to express the technique of the chic ninja called “Ninjutsu”.
ASAMISAE] (Vo/Key/Sampler): Both songs are sung in a very special way; the singing of “Faction” is full of charm, and “Shinobi Top Secret” is sung in many different ways throughout the song, so that the audience can feel the same as other songs than the change of singing style.
In Faction, there are various rhythm patterns from start to finish, creating an atmosphere of getting lost. In the second stanza, I referenced the grotesque yet intriguing vibe created by an American band called The Mars Volta. In Shinobi Top Secret, I used Japanese drum taiko as the theme in several places: in the A melody in the first verse, I used the kick drum pattern and tone, and in the second verse, “Ninpo da Ninpo” da Ninpo da Nippon no Sappou”, I use the full drum kit to create the taiko-like sound and score. I’d be happy if you could draw the scene along with the sound.
Are you interested in recording more music for TV animations or movies?
∴315∵: Of course! I love anime and I am honored to be involved in this way. I would love to do more in the future.
YOU RECENTLY POSTED TREASURE , your latest full-length album. How would you describe it compared to previous albums?
TAMAYA188953%: Simply put, our BEST ALBUM was.
The reason it’s the best ever is because we’re making this Having a lot of fun with the album and the fact that we were able to fit all the ideas into it without diluting them makes us feel like it’s a masterpiece. So far, we’ve had a lot of fun with the musical form of “The Band” and the goodness that goes with it. There’s a bit of a fascination with the bad, but this time we were able to remove that limitation and present the ideas and humor us in a proper form, which was a very important change for us. Looking back, I think I formed The “fusion of various musical and electronic elements with punk” envisioned by the Wienners has finally taken shape on this album, and from this point on, I can see More possibilities for Wienners.

This year you also released a remix album, Wiemixes . What inspired you to revisit and reimagine some of your past tracks like this? What’s your favorite remix version?
I especially like “Koi no Bangla Beat Spice Curry ver.”. And “ASTRO BOY Black Hole Edition”. As the name suggests, “Koi no Bangla Beat (Bangla Beat of Love)” is a song that combines Indian “Bangla Beat (Bhangada Beat)” and the sound of the band, but the remix is purely a bhangada beat song. This is probably the first Japanese bhangada beat song in the world. “ASTRO BOY” was originally an instrumental song, but I like it because it’s the “most deviated” mix, using the chord progressions and vocal material from the original, and adding a newly recorded rap track.
ASAISAE: I like ASTRO BOY Black “The hole version. “This is the first time I’ve rapped like this, and I’m excited to write the lyrics and rap for this mix.
∴600∵: All songs are great, But if I had to pick one, it would be “ANIMALS Future Nature ver.”. The guitar arrangement and development of this version is great, it’s ecstasy!
KOZO: I would say “FAR EAST DISCO Divinest African Ver” is my favorite. A few years ago, I Had Tamaya listening to one of my favorite songs and when I heard “FAR EAST DISCO” I thought it was my favorite song and immediately checked if I could mix it. I’m glad to hear him say yes. This remix feels more ecstatic than the original Far Eastern Disco. If the original is our real world, the remix is the world in heaven. I feel like we’re reaching a “Far East disco” where we probably don’t know. Excited to hear.

“God Save The Music” also has animated music by web animator Speedoru (@Speedoru) Video. How did he end up making the video?
Anything you would like to say to overseas fans or people who are listening to your music for the first time?

KOZO: Thank you for meeting Viennese in any form ; anime, YouTube or music streaming services.
