Roy Wood Jr. to host African American Film Critics Association Awards

Roy Wood Jr. will host the 14 annual non- American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) Awards , announced Wednesday.

Host, comedian and Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker whose credits include The Neutral Ground and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah said: “It is an honor to host the AAFCA Awards, where we can gather Come together to celebrate the incredible films and performances that have inspired and uplifted our community.”

“AAFCA is pleased to have the multi-talented Roy Wood Jr. host the th AAFCA Awards edition. Roy is one of the most exciting comedians in our industry. He is funny, insightful and irreverent and we look forward to it A fantastic evening of fun and celebration,” AAFCA President/CEO Jill Robertson said in a statement.

Wood will also host the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April. The comedian most recently starred in Paramount Pictures’ Confessions, Fletcher , among other credits include Only Murders in Building, Better Call Saul,

The last OG and Space Force.

For this year’s AAFCA Awards, The Woman King will win Best Picture with Gina Prince-Bythewood Best Director Award. In the Acting category, The Inspection star Jeremy Pope won Best Actor and Till Star Danielle Deadwyler won Best Actress. Angela Bassett won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Air Leopard: Wakanda Forever , Brian Tyree Henry via Causeway .

Other winners include Rihanna for Best Song for “Lift Me Up” and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Best Writing and Best Ensemble.

The AAFCA Awards will be held on March 1 at the Four Seasons Hotel Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills.
