Russell Brand’s Live Tour in U.K. Postponed in Wake of Allegations

Russell Brand’s live stand-up shows in the U.K have been postponed following allegations of sexual assault.

“We are postponing these few remaining addiction charity fundraiser shows, we don’t like doing it – but we know you’ll understand,” said the promoters of Brand’s Bipolarisation tour on Monday in a message shared by the Theatre Royal Windsor, where he was due to perform on Sep. 19. Brand had further dates in the U.K. cities of Wolverhampton and Plymouth planned.

Over the weekend, the comedian, actor and TV host was the subject of a joint investigation by The TimesThe Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatches in which four women accused him rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse between 2006 and 2013, all of which he has vehemently denied.

Just hours after the allegations were first published on Saturday, Brand performed at London’s Wembley to around 2,000 people, where he was reportedly given a standing ovation, telling the crowd there there were “some things I cannot talk about.”

On Monday, Scotland Yard said that it had received a report of sexual assault dating back to 2003 relating to the accusations brought to light in the investigation.
