Russell Crowe for claim that he did a rough audition with the actor opposite Julia Roberts in
Dissent Hot Romantic Comedy My Best Friend’s Wedding.
Crowe on Friday twitter to film director PJ Hogan Speaking, he told author Scott Meslow that in the bookFrom Hollywood With Love, Crowe was in the casting process Sit down and read with Roberts. Hogan called it “one of the worst dinner-table reads I’ve ever had,” and said it was clear that Hogan thought Crowe was a rising star who didn’t fit into the film.
In his tweet, Crowe said the audition never happened and he never read it with Roberts. “Represents the director’s pure imagination,” the Oscar winner wrote. “I didn’t audition for this movie. I never read a table with the actresses mentioned. Would be fun if it wasn’t so pointless.”
Hogan’s comment hits the headlines after
Vulture in An excerpt from the book was published in February, which Crowe apparently didn’t know about until recently. In the article, Hogan said that Crowe was his first choice for the role of Michael, the titular best friend he ended up playing in Dermot Mulroney’s film.
