Saints SAFETYMarcus Maye was arrested Thursday morning for his involvement in a road rage incident earlier this week, It was reported by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Maye, 29, is accused of pointing a gun at another vehicle “occupied by several teenage girls” during an incident Monday in Metairie, Louisiana, JPSO captain Jason Rivarde announced in a statement obtained by FOX 8 WVUE.
Maye is facing one count of aggravated assault with a firearm after an investigation into the matter determined he was the driver of the black SUV that fired the gun, Rivard said. Maye was booked at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna, Louisiana, and released on a $30,000 bond, according to Rivarde.
Maye’s attorney, Eric Hessler, subsequently released a statement via NFL Network about his client’s response to the arrest.
“Marcus vehemently denies the motor vehicle accident allegations and looks forward to defending himself once all the facts are out,” Hessler said, according to NFLN’s Tom Pelissero.
Maye, a second-round pick by the Jets in 2017, is taking a free-agent deal this offseason after signing a three-year, $28.5 million contract in March. Identity came to the Saints. He is currently expected to be the starter for New Orleans after spending much of training camp repairing the Achilles he injured in Week 9 of the 2021 season.
