Sam Mendes will accept director Krzysztof Kieslowski during the 30 EnergaCamerimage International Film Festival The Special Awards Film Festival will be held in November – in Torun, Poland.
In addition, Mendes’ new drama
Empire of Light shot by Roger Deakins, starring Olivia Colman and Michael Ward, will be the opening night movie and the main competition one of the nominees. The setting for the Searchlight movie is an old cinema in an early 1980 British coastal town.
Mendes’ films include American Beauty for which he won Best Picture and Best Oscar Director’s Award, and Road to Doom , Canned , Revolutionary Road , Let’s Go , Skyfall , ghost and 1917.
As mentioned earlier, Oscar-nominated photographer Stephen Bloom(Hoffa) will receive the Camerimage Lifetime Achievement Award during this year’s festival.
