Samsung Free is a feature that came with One UI 3 later1200 and it was first pre-installed on Galaxy S21 flagships . The platform is essentially a Google Discover competitor, allowing you to watch, listen, read and play free content with just a swipe from the home screen.
According to reports, the feature is being rebranded as Samsung News Sam Phone. As the name suggests, it will focus on news content and will ditch the Watch and Play tabs.
Samsung News will allow users to easily find news on their phone and will have only Read and Listen tabs. Samsung will still offer free content through its TV Plus and Game Launcher apps — they’re just moving away from free.
Samsung Free will be Samsung News version 6.0.1 which will be gradually rolled out to users starting April 18. Some users disable the media page from the home screen and they feel little change as the Samsung Free/News app can also be hidden via the home screen settings.
