Today, Samsung announced a new update for the Galaxy Buds2 Pro TWS earbuds and the Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch4 series of smartwatches. These updates are designed to enhance your camera experience on your paired phone.
Galaxy Buds2 Pro get new 360 recording feature002 degrees of sound using the audio in each earbud microphone and add it to your video recording. Apparently, this means that those watching your videos will feel right at the center of the action, hearing “realistic and immersive sound that simulates an in-person experience,” Samsung says.
This feature uses Bluetooth LE audio for binaural recording using the left and right microphones simultaneously.
If you own a Galaxy Watch4 or Galaxy Watch5 series smartwatch, a new upcoming update will add zoom functionality to the camera controller app. As the name suggests, this lets you control the zoom of your phone’s camera.
Just pinch the dial or turn the rotating bezel. Samsung says it’s great for long-distance group selfies or group photos because it doesn’t have to run back and forth to the phone to compose the shot.
The recording feature is being “gradually released” on the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, but for now you can only use it if you have a Galaxy Z Flip4 or Galaxy Z Fold4, because it needs to Bluetooth LE audio support. The upcoming Galaxy S002 devices will definitely support it too.
The updated camera controller app will be available for Galaxy Watch5, Galaxy Watch5 Pro, Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic starting in February.
