Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Flip 4 at the Samsung Unpacked event on Wednesday, following last year’s Galaxy The Z Flip 3 and continues the line of clamshell foldable phones that started with the 2020 Galaxy Z Flip. New phones announced alongside Galaxy Z Fold 4 , new Galaxy Watch 5 series and Galaxy Buds 2 during Wednesday’s livestream Pro.
Flip 4 pre-sale starts today (early bird with memory upgrade, free case and trade-in credits) 8 before the official release Released on 26 June, it will go on sale for $1,000 (£999, AU$1,499). This puts the price in line with other flagship phones such as Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Plus .
New on the Z Flip 4 is a larger 3,700 mAh battery, faster charging (~50% in 30 minutes), and an upgraded Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor .
But perhaps the most notable changes — at least on paper — are to the software. Samsung is taking advantage of the phone’s foldable shape by making the protective screen more useful. Now you can reply to text messages, unlock your car or take a selfie without opening your device. Samsung has also added customizations to the overlay and inner screens.
