Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip5 isn’t due out for a few months, and it’s likely to correct two major issues people still have with its predecessor, the Z Flip4. At least if today’s rumors about the matter come true. The rumor comes from Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young, who has been accurate about such things in the past. In another corner, the truth is that he does get weird things wrong sometimes, so keep that in mind.
Anyway, hopefully the Galaxy Z Flip5 will indeed come with a larger cover display as Young said. That’s apparently around 3.3″ to 3.4″, an order of magnitude larger than the 1.9″ screen we’re currently using on the Flip4.

For what it’s worth, Oppo’s upcoming Find N2 Flip, a direct competitor to Samsung’s Flip series, was leaked earlier today with a large bezel Shows its own. While this clearly dwarfs the Flip4, the Flip5 could match or even exceed its rumored 3.” size.
According to Young, the interior screen will also get an upgrade, and that’s the crease department. Specifically, the Flip5 is said to feature a new hinge design that “reduces the visibility of the seam.” It’s unclear if it will reduce the crease feeling too, but we’ll try our best.
Samsung’s Chinese rivals have been releasing devices with less pronounced (and less noticeable) creases in their folding screens, so it’s nice to see the Korean company pull off some of that here. progress. As they say, better late than never.
