Samsung ramps up workforce for 3nm chip production

South Korean media revealed that Samsung is facing a shortage of 3nm chip production talents. According to reports, the South Korean company is mobilizing its workforce internally, bringing the team into the R&D team for the new node.

Due to shortage of local experts and workers, Samsung has stopped accepting orders left over from domestic SMEs 130-27nm foundry process specializes in semiconductor design.

The team at Hwaseong R&D Center will work on improving the yield of single wafer. Next-gen chipsets are in high demand, while legacy nodes are not as popular in the market anymore.

Analysts predict that the chip market will expand by one-third in the next five years, which will push Samsung to increase its investment in signing cooperation contracts with major universities. However, South Korea is facing a decline in the quality of education, which has frustrated Samsung’s intentions.
