Samsung has been doing Unpacked for a long time( Image source: Samsung)
Hello! The sun is shining (well, depending on where and what time of day you are), it’s time to get ready for one of the big events of the year: the August edition of Samsung Galaxy Unpacked.
Spoiler alert: We’re going to see some new foldable phones today. That’s not me giving you insider information or anything…just Samsung being very obvious about it, if it doesn’t The new Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are unveiled today and I’m going to be totally shocked.
2022-08-10T05:27:28.836Z
Let’s start with an interesting rumor: While I don’t think it’s going to be a reality, leakers have hinted that the Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 will be the same as the Flip 4 and Fold 4 as Z was used as a military symbol during Russia’s attack on Ukraine
(Opens in a new tab).
I doubt it will happen at this point, since too many leaks have made them still pack ‘Z’ – but it’s an interesting one A description of how brands need to react to external events when considering how their naming conventions will decline.
It is important to always point to the brand in question when discussing leaked information – in this case Samsung – Pretty much just showing a video of one of the devices it’s showing off its upcoming products.
Now, I’m not a forensic expert (I do know a thing or two about cell phones…) but you don’t need a degree to be in this trailer See the new Galaxy Z Flip 4 from Samsung:

I made one last night Dream, I was jogging down the stairs, jumped over the railing, slid down a bit, and did a nice spin on the floor.
A man looked at me, smiled and handed me the finger gun. I feel good about it.
That’s all – it’s just a very nice dream.

We’re going to see a ton of leaks about the new Z Flip today – although you’ll never know for sure what the leaks are until the device is actually shown on stage Validity, but we can be pretty confident that what leaks out is likely to be legitimate.
The first leak came from Amazon in the Netherlands, and the phone’s specs were released around the world. Now, we traditionally ignore these because retailers can sometimes have product listings ready in their system and make a “best guess” specification just to have something.
These can sometimes go live, so are considered fact when they’re not. But what Amazon’s leaks look like more real are pictures — and a lot of marketing material that looks pretty accurate.
Some of these seem to have been edited recently Samsung seems to be shutting them down – but we can Seeing said Dutch image on Telegram

One thing I’m really excited about – because of TechRadar’s tech runners – saw it today.
in a recent blog post
( opens in new tab) Regarding health innovation, TaeJong Jay Yang, EVP and H Samsung Electronics Health R&D Team Leader, said about the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event:
“Samsung is excited to continue expanding our Galaxy Watch lineup to better meet the many unique needs of our users – especially those with a passion for the great outdoors.”
Now, you can easily assume that means the new Watch 5 will get some enhanced fitness elements, or a slightly bigger bezel or something. But it’s not really a game-changer — Samsung has been making “pretty good” fitness watches for a while, and “expanding” means making something better — meaning one that rivals the Garmin device of.
So the rumored Galaxy Watch 5 Pro or Galaxy Watch 5 Rugged is where I think it’s going – and that’s probably acceptable to Garmin. It needs a bigger screen, a better battery (my Fenix 7 lasts 28 days in smartwatch mode without a charge), and improved GPS.
So go ahead and open the box – let’s see what you have…

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, may be improved with the “Pro” version at Unpacked today (Image source: Samsung)
By the way, we turn our attention to the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro (well, I think they will Officially
called Buds2 Pro because why not, um, Samsung? Why use proper syntax?)
I recently bought the Galaxy Buds Pro and they are… nice. Decent active noise cancellation, fit, battery life is decent, sound is passable.
So what can we expect from the next models, a year from now, should they appear?
“Updated Bluetooth codecs will (potentially) open the door to 24-bit Hi-Res audio,” said Becky Scarrott, our Senior Audio Writer.
“If Samsung can achieve 24-bit Hi-Res Audio through its proprietary codec magic, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro may finally make Sammers the key to wireless Participant earbuds – but only if they also work on the disappointing battery life.”
Oh, I think the battery life is ok…shows what I know. 😒

How about this one when we’re talking about massive leaks? Almost everything from today’s event leaked out in some form, so no surprises, but we got a supposedly official marketing image from WinFuture a few days ago (opens in a new tab)
(though we won’t know until Unpacked expands) and some battery capacity.
Here’s what excites me:
“The 40mm Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 will apparently come with a 284mm amp-hour battery, while the 44mAh model is said to have a 410mAh battery, while the 45mm Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro apparently has a huge 590mAh battery.”
The 590mAh battery of the Watch 5 Pro? Given that high-end Garmin watches have (approximately) 400-500mAh batteries inside, this could be a game changer. However, like just saying that the display on the 5 Pro will be more power-hungry, so let’s not expect miracles here.
But that’s a big step up, and it sounds like we’re about to see a chunky little monster.
*Yes, I am an absolutely fun palace party.

Battle of the Century, Flip 4 leaked at the last minute. Clockwork regularly, these are.
This time from two sources: Slashleaks
(opens in new tab) released a dummy unit of the Z Flip 4, showing the front and back in white and black, respectively.
WinFuture
(opens in new tab) (they’I’m obviously getting along well with someone in the Samsung food chain…) for more details – notice thinner bezels, smaller and more compact hinges, The sturdy aluminum used in the construction, and crucially, the larger battery to make most of the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipsets, paired with 8GB of RAM.
This is indeed a phone with meat – would you buy it?

Let’s go again – this time, we’ve Saw a standard effort trying to generate some buzz. Some hype. Some thrash metal fun on Twitter.
It has done the standard thing that social media exists: taking polls.
So…are you Team Fold or Team Flip?

At the time of posting, Team Fold was ahead, 60% to 40%. But, then again, only 254 people voted…but I think that percentage will stay the same.

There was a great article on The Verge recently (opens in new tab) Samsung is way ahead in the foldable device space, which is why it can afford to make incremental changes to its phones.
That’s an interesting point – but the truth is that it wouldn’t have sold without Samsung’s massive marketing spending on the Z Fold 3 foldable lineup 10 million units from last year, and now it will compete with Huawei, Oppo and (sort of) Microsoft.
2022-08-10T10:32:17.492Z
Speaking of the Microsoft foldable world, let’s not Forget that the Surface Duo is actually a pretty good phone, and loved by those who have reviewed it…but more in a soulful way than an over-the-top impression.

When we’re talking about foldable phones here, remember Microsoft’s Courier in 2009? It’s like a foldable prototype… well, it doesn’t even fold at all, it’s two Windows PCs without a keyboard welded together.
You interacted with the stylus and it sounds great, you can move things from screen to screen in a note-taking fashion…which obviously It’s the Surface Duo phone, but people live and I want it so badly.

Let’s talk about the camera – that’s usually Samsung’s strong suit. The brand will always mix high-end snappers in the mix, in part because it develops its own sensors, but the fold-and-flip range has never had the best quality.
Will it change this time? Rumors are clear that the new camera will be headlined by a 50MP sensor with optical image stabilization and a fairly modern f/1.8 aperture sensor.
That’s a far cry from last year’s three 12MP sensors, and as Samsung continues its campaign to make foldable phones a “one thing”, there could be more to come. good photo.

The one thing that really moved me about buying a new Z Fold phone was the crease in the middle – I used the Galaxy Z Fold 2 for a few months Well, I admit I stopped noticing it after a while, but whenever I turned it on, it was there, staring at me right in the face.
Like I got my eyes w pierced – I know it doesn’t hurt to get it done , but when I thought about doing it again, I couldn’t bring myself to get the metal through my skin.
Same as Fold 4 – I didn’t get a sad welcome if I first opened it, I’d like to spend over $1,000 – even though I know I’ll get used to it it.

Okay, we’re an hour away from the launch of the new line of Galaxy Z Fold and Flip phones, and (probably) new watches and headphones, to be honest.

I come Now, with some gnocchi and sausage in my mouth to energize the main event, and I was browsing Twitter for a while, then I tried rubbing my fingers on the keyboard you
, dear reader.
I found a post on Twitter for Kimi Raikkonen’s ad – the most sullen, anti-media ex-F1 star to advertise? Yes please.
I was surprised when the second down was not just promoting the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3…but he was actually in this one It’s animated! It must be because of his wife, a well-known Finnish celebrity, that moved him.
Anyway, look. This is awesome. Then follow the thread –
OK, there are less than 5 Minutes of Time – Let’s take a quick look at our expectations:
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 – The most powerful and largest device announced today, we expect it to cost around $1,799 / £1,599 / AU$2,499 with a large 7.9-inch screen when unfolded and enhanced with a camera.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 –
Selling price Around $999 / £949 / AU$1,499, it will have thinner bezels, a stronger hinge and more power thanks to a high-end Qualcomm chip. Phones that fold in half are still expensive, though.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5
–
If our estimate is correct, this price will be around $349/£349/$549. This will be the first watch to ship with Wear OS, which is a big deal. No drastic change is expected, but it will likely appeal to many.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro – this is the big one for me – don’t know the price but the battery capacity is huge and probably better GPS skills which I think is something to watch out for. Haha noticed. This is a watch. Man, I’m having fun.
Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro – Again, the prices here make little sense, but for 24-bit sound, these could be the real winners. The slimmer design and longer battery life mean I really regret my recent purchase of the Buds Pro.
2022-08 -10T13:01:04.317Z
OK, here we go! Let’s go.

started as a video joke, I’m worried I’m missing something – this is The two try to explain how they’re going to market the new phone…they both want acrobats to show off.

Samsung MX head of business TM Roh is on stage – he’s talking about the fact that these phones unlock “freedom, progress and wide open possibilities”.
The chat is about how Samsung started with the first fold, it took 8 years to hit the market…and no w it’s becoming mainstream.
This is the fourth generation of Samsung’s Galaxy foldable – it’s unpackaged. (I quote here).

OK, Let’s get back to action. We’re hearing about the Galaxy Z Flip 4 now, with front and rear cameras working together – Meta/Instagram’s Adam talks about how Instagram Reels made it so easy to use this device, but it’s not clear how.

Oh, I like it this way: Samsung just emphasized the quick closing of the flip Shows you’re ready to pay attention back into the room — that’s exactly what flip phones used to offer, and the brand really loves that.
The cover screen doesn’t appear to have changed, but has a stronger metal frame and comes in four matte finish colors: Purple, Graphite, White, and Blue.

Ah, here comes the BTS. Samsung has always liked a little K-Pop and this boy band…though, really, they’ve moved beyond the K-Pop genre and are only now catching on.
Anyway, I digress. They both live in white suites and have fun on the sofa in the desert and they are both watched on Z Flip 4
.
Oh, that’s it.
The new Flip 4 has an aluminum armored display, thin but strong glass, and an IPX8 rating…all leaks in the buildup.

I think we’re done with Flip 4 now – we’re watching the promo video.
Oh wait, no – this is the current Galaxy Z Flip 4 custom. We’ve seen these before, finding ways to add color and functionality (for a fee) to make it your own version of a Samsung phone.
This brings more options, allowing you to change five body colors and three frame colors, which means (finger out) 15 color combination options.
2022-08-10T13:20:55.708Z
Now we’re talking about wireless earbuds. That’s going to be all about the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro – which, as we predicted, does include 24-bit audio.
Samsung has developed its own codec – in a similar fashion to what Apple is rumored to be doing – which will allow for more efficient sound, 360-degree sound to come in. …..
sounds a lot like spatial audio, doesn’t it?
Active noise cancellation is here, and if you start talking, the earbuds dial back and let you hear – sort of like the recent Sony earmuffs too.
2022-08-10T13:22:32.956Z
BTW – If you want to pre-order the phone, here’s where you need to go, our Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 pre-order deals. …..You can already get up to $999 off.

Back to the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro – now showing how they connect to your phone and TV at the same time (Samsung phone and TV, natch ), and allows you to pipe your sound to one of them fairly simply.
Again, it’s apples, but it’s great – Samsung should to leverage its ecosystem more than just being a partner to others.

Wow, we’re at it again – the Galaxy Watch 5 is on display. Four different colors, sapphire screen, make things clearer and less scratches.
Sleep tracking has been improved, blood oxygen and heart rate throughout, and Samsung Health has come together.
Below is a larger heart rate sensor and the same “bioactivity sensor” that tracks heart rate, body composition, and sleep tracking all in one place. Again, it’s not groundbreaking, but there’s also a temperature sensor there, is new.
The new infrared temperature sensor will enhance the functionality of the watch, and Samsung will work with developers to benefit users in the near future …so this is not ready new function.
2022-08-10T13:28:06.705Z
Strangely nothing is mentioned About the Galaxy Fold 4 so far…if we haven’t seen it, I’d assume it’s not coming.
2022-08-10T13:29:06.328Z
Why are we going back to the Z Flip 4? The good news is that it’s priced at $999, $229 for the Buds 2 Pro, and $279 for the Watch 5.
Stop climate change now…that’s the whistle stop, isn’t it? (

Samsung uses in the new Galaxy series Abandoned fishing nets, and now we’re hearing more about sustainability too.
5 Pro can also be watched, I just realized.
Sorry – back to the video – 90% of Galaxy devices have some element of recycled material…it’s pretty blurry. The brand will “continue to invest in eco-friendly materials…” But what does that mean?
Galaxy phones are packaged with 100% recycled paper, reducing the size of the box by 50%. Does that mean there will also be fewer components inside?
There’s a lot of promise here, but there aren’t a lot of clear numbers yet, other than ‘goal’ and keep improving.
2022-08-10T13:34:48.627Z
We’re back with TM again – who’s in Talk about the next foldable evolution – with sustainability in mind.
The most durable and powerful Galaxy Foldables yet – this seems to be more about the Fold 4, finally.
Here it comes – a fancy marketing video with harsh but relaxing music in the background.
“Since its first launch, the Fold series has been the epitome of innovation,” a voiceover whispers.
2022-08-10T13:36:27.373Z
Let’s dig deeper – starting with the new hinge more… no more gear design, but the newly designed hinge could make the chassis thinner and lighter.
The engineers improved it, but also reduced the weight…which is good because those things are already bad.
2022-08-10T13:38:27.241Z
Samsung made things lighter by changing the display design, reducing screen elements – strengthening layers and removing metal layers and adding sponge to allow more display vibrations to pass through without breaking anything.
The word “sponge” has been used more than I expected at this unveiling.
The marketing is about the “strongest, lightest” Z fold ever…which is apparently the result of a marketing focus group.
2022-08-10T13:40:00.488Z
The external display is also wider and better looking – external display The screen looks like poo on the Fold 2, so this is required.
The inside of the display has been improved again, the camera under the display has also been improved, and it comes with both Android 12L and One UI 4…Samsung And Google is in trouble again.
2022-08-10T13:43:23.856Z
There are plenty of S Pens available here, and using a split-screen phone really helps with productivity.
I’ve heard the words ‘productivity’ and ‘productivity’ many times…even more than sponge.
Microsoft teams are participating as usual, which shows that Samsung has a lot of traction with the brand and is often a competitor (in the sense that Google is also integrated).
Now we get to the camera – an improved night camera and spatial zoom for better tracking of objects – but these are the e-features that are being brought to the S22 Ultra.
2022-08-10T13:46:25.419 Z
Samsung is working on everything – to be able to use tags more efficiently on mobile devices (e.g. you can easily “compare prices”…in a sense you can View multiple websites) and games, and chat at the same time.
It all seems a bit much in the way it’s presented – game consoles, pocket computers and the latest in multimedia technology.
Oh, we’re back at Google – browsing the web on Chrome, video chatting on Meet, and extending the Wear OS platform to Samsung watches.
We heard something else from Google today…
2022-08-10T13:48:18.577Z
Yes, Wear OS now – Google is bringing more apps to platforms like Deezer, but also Galaxy Watches and Spotify Google Assistant.
You can say “Hey Google, play my workout playlist on Spotify”…and Later this year
you will have offline access to the map without your The phone is on your watch.
still has not now. why not?
There’s also an improved homepage and app bundle later this year…it feels like it won’t be at launch, which is kind of bad.
Still nothing on the Watch 5 Pro.
2022-08-10T13 :51:39.178Z
Oh, ha- here it comes.
The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is here – I’m afraid it’s going to be a footnote, but here’s one of the main events.
The marketing video is all about biking and running and getting active in a pretty radical, flashy way. There is thunder in the background.
What makes it suitable for fitness?
Well, a novice face hole can show you the sunset, and there’s a compass to get you hiking in the right direction.
Watch 5 Pro offers new turn-by-turn directions and vibrations via voice. Friends and your workout friends can also share GPX files, which is helpful.
The Track back feature means you can go back to the route you were on, a feature Garmin and Polar watches have had for years.
The screen is also sapphire and comes in black and grey. There are also sport and designer buckles.
2022-08-10T13:52: 19.439Z
It’ll be available on August 26th for $449 – I’ll need to dig harder It, because that wouldn’t look worth another $170 than the Watch 5.
And the golf version…what? Just put the golf function on the Watch 5 Pro!

I think we’re going to end it now – there are a lot of new products out there. Thank you for staying with us – please check out our hands on new products and stay tuned to TechRadar as we have batches additional content brought to you.
2022-08 -10T15:13:44.422Z
Wow – it’s packed with a lot of stuff. Samsung was a curious fish at launch, focusing less on specs and more on lifestyle implications.
I felt like I had to see all the products, but nothing was really explained in depth. In the past few years, when events were physical, we would have someone on stage to demonstrate new features or show us how new features work.
This time, it’s all glitzy videos that don’t really reveal much about the products themselves – how long will the Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro last? What’s the key, real-world difference to the Fold 4 screen?
The Z Flip 4 is really better than last year – what does the aluminum armor case really offer?
We’ll be digging into all of this and more in the coming days – stay tuned.

Samsung didn’t say much about the fact that the Z Fold 4 supports the S Pen, but Again no slots.
Given that Samsung has said that the Folding Range replaces past Note models, it seems odd that the S Pen doesn’t have a slot.
However, you can get a case with a st and an S Pen slot – combine that with a bluetooth keyboard and you’re basically looking for a complete A tablet alternative…even comparable to a Chromebook.

As of this morning, I (it’s me, Lance Ulanoff) have all The latest Samsung gadget cases, including for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 (above), Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, Samsung Buds 2 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Watch 5. Do you know what they have in common? There are actually two things. They’re all made from recycled materials, which are great, and none of them include a charging brick—not that great. They all have USB charging cables, including the Galaxy Watch 5’s proprietary charging cradle. None of them come with a wall plug.
Don’t blame Samsung. Apple does the same thing. The idea is that we have a lot of chargers all around us, or at least, wall outlet USB-3 and USB-C ports, which reduces e-waste.
I do have a lot of extra chargers, but that’s because I’m a techie. Do all consumers? I have no idea. All I know is that no one will happily pay another $19 or more for a charging brick.
This also means that if you want access to wired fast charging, you’ll pay more for a dedicated charger.
I know, 😡.

Here’s a hands-on preview of my Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro: they’re fantastic.
Great talk, dizzying sound and ANC, also impressive. It does an excellent job of canceling most ambient noise, maybe even slightly better than my AirPods Pro.
Setup is a breeze and the fit is near perfect. I can’t stop listening to the wonderful Dolby Atmos music on them. Of course, I wish I could get Bora Purple, but white would be nice too.
Even at $229.99, I think these could be very popular bluetooth earbuds.
