August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning stage play The Piano Lesson will be adapted into a film for Netflix, with Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington in with Danielle Brooks SUCCESSFUL Starring after the Broadway revival.
The film will also follow Netflix’s adaptation of another August Wilson play, Ma Rainey’s Black Ass, Starring
Viola Davis, who also had a relationship with John David Washington’s father Denzel Washington appears together in another film adaptation of Wilson’s play, Fences. Denzel Washington and Davis also star in 2017 Netflix documentary Giving Voice, explores Wilson as a showman Writer’s Legacy.
Denzel’s son, Malcolm Washington, will direct Film adaptation of The Piano Lesson . Denzel Washington will produce the film alongside Todd Black.
The Piano Lesson Adapted from LaTanya Richardson Jackson directed by her husband, Samuel L. Jackson, who starred opposite Brooks on Broadway and John David Washington in Wilson’s stage play about African-Americans wrestling with a painful past.
Adaptation cast includes Ray Fisher, Till actress Danielle Deadwell, Michael Potts and Corey Hawkins. Set in 2010 Pittsburgh after the Great Depression, followed by The Piano Lesson The life and heirloom of the Charles family at the Doc Charles home, the family piano, adorned with designs carved by their enslaved ancestors and polished with the tears and blood of their late mother.

The Piano Lesson is Wilson’s Plays part of the American Century cycle, including Fences and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, the latter movie on Netflix The adaptation earned five Oscar nominations and two awards for Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Costume Design.
