Currently, the SboNdaba company consists of dancers and three directors who practice five times a week Days, from 9am to 4pm, weekends are dedicated to shows. While government and industry support rarely presents challenges, the company still pays each member a modest salary commensurate with their experience and seniority. Additionally, each dancer takes on their own outreach work, teaching dance to township children. SboNdaba Dance believes that outreach is as important as dancing, if not more important.
The company’s work instills hope and beauty in young South Africans, a sentiment that is often lost in the face of poverty, violence and inequality.
