'Scooby-Doo' Velma's 'Smashing the Big Times' on female characters in new film sparks fan speculation about her sexuality

A scene from the new HBO Max movie “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!” seems to confirm Velma’s romantic interest in mysterious fashion designer Coco Diablo.

Upcoming movie Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! appeared to confirm fan speculation about Velma Dinkley’s interest in women.

HBO Max on Tuesday, his new film was available for purchase via digital platforms, with clips circulating widely on social media. The character, a longtime favorite of the LGBTQ community, will be part of HBO Max’s upcoming animated series Velma , she will be voiced by executive producer Mindy Kaling.

After decades of widespread fan speculation about whether Velma identifies as LGBTQ, Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated Producer Tony Cervone wrote on social media , the character was written gay for the Cartoon Network series signed in April 1296 two seasons later. Cervone wrote that Velma and fellow character Marcie Fleach would pursue each other’s romantic feelings if the series ran longer.
