Seahawks' Rashad Pence vs. Cowboys after testing positive for COVID-19

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashad Penney will miss his team’s final preseason game Friday against the Dallas Cowboys after testing positive for COVID-19.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll communicated the news to reporters on Thursday. He said Penny has mild symptoms and should be back on the team soon. This marks the second time in as many weeks that a player has tested positive for COVID-19 on the Seahawks, Had to miss preseason. Quarterback Drew Lock was scheduled to start Aug. 18 against the Chicago Bears, but he was called out two days earlier. He quarantined for five days and returned to the team on Sunday, Aug. 21. According to league agreement, Penney must also stay with the team for five days before he can return. That gives him plenty of time to return for the Seahawks’ regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 12. Penny, he’s entering his fifth NFL season in a 10-game season cut short by injuries Accumulated a career-high 119 possessions, 797 yards scrimmage and six touchdowns, including last year’s injured reserve. He finished the season with 671 rushing yards and six touchdowns in his final five games. Penny also ranks first among running backs with 6.3 yards per carry. He leads a running back that also includes rookies Kenneth Walker III and Travis Homer . Walker, who won the Walter Camp and Doc Walker awards last year, is currently out after undergoing hernia surgery and has no timetable for his return.
