Lopez reported Thursday that Araiza has been named in a civil lawsuit filed by a woman accusing three former and current San Diego State football players of murdering three former and current San Diego State football players when she was 17. raped her.
Araiza issued a statement Friday: “The facts of the incident are not what the lawsuit or the media describe. I look forward to it as soon as possible. Clarify the facts.” According to Shalby and Lopez, the lawsuit alleges that Araiza had sex with the plaintiff outside the off-campus residence where they were partying , and then “[brought] her into a room where she was repeatedly raped”: “According to the lawsuit, the teen told Araiza that she was a high school student, and even though he could see her drunk, he told her to perform oral sex and then had sex with her. Araiza then took her to a bedroom , [Zavier Leonard], [Nowlin “Pa’a” Ewaliko] and at least one other man, who, the complaint alleges, threw her on the bed first. The lawsuit says she was raped for an hour and a half until the party was closed.” Araiza attorney Kerry Armstrong The lawsuit describes it as a “shuffle” of the 22-year-old’s NFL career.
San Diego State University provided a timeline of events surrounding the allegations. The San Diego Police Department was first alerted to possible off-campus sexual assault on October 18, 2021. The university was also notified, and a day later its Title IX office opened its own investigation.
By October 28, San Diego police wrote to SDSU, “requesting the University to temporarily postpone the administrative investigation in order to Make sure the criminal case is not affected.” and on how the SDPD and SDSU police investigated the allegations, many Wondering how the bill was reported in the

“We recently learned of a civil lawsuit involving Matt starting in October 2021,” the team said on Monday. Four said. “Due to the seriousness of the complaint, we have conducted a thorough review of this matter. As this is an ongoing civil case, we have no further comment at this time.”
The woman’s attorney, Dan Gilleon, told The Athletic’s Tim Graham that Bill did not contact his client as part of the investigation. Gilleon said he sent an introductory email to the team on July 31 and had a phone conversation with Bills Assistant General Counsel Kathryn D’Angelo the next day, but received no further response :

Gilleon added that his initial contact with Bills was a lengthy phone call with Kathryn D’Angelo, the team’s assistant general counsel, but Bills Never asked again and didn’t want to talk to his clients.
Araiza is ready to start the regular season as a starter after Buffalo cut Matt Huck. However, he was ruled out of Friday’s game after the allegations became public.
