It’s no surprise that U.S. News & World Report’s No. 1 spot on this year’s “Best Hospitals” list.
The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, for the seventh year in a row, “provides excellence in care in many areas of care,” U.S. News said when announcing its 2022-2023 rankings.
The top three on this year’s Honor Roll are Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and NYU Langone Hospital in New York City.
Houston’s MD Anderson Cancer Center is ranked No. 1 in Cancer, the Cleveland Clinic is No. 1 in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, and NYU Langone Hospital is ranked No. 1 in Neurology and No. 1 in neurosurgery.
The Best Hospitals rankings are compiled annually to help you U.S. News states in its announcements that patients and their of doctors make informed decisions about where to receive quality care. In the 2022-2023 ranking, more than 4,500 hospitals were compared across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions.
Overall, 493 facilities were recognized as “Best Regional Hospitals,” based on their strong performance across multiple areas of care, U.S. The news said.
Specifically, the “best hospital” specialty approach and procedure and condition approach measures such as survival, complication rates , patient experience, level of care, and the hospital’s ability to successfully help patients get home, according to U.S. News . To calculate the “Best Hospitals” rankings for Honor Roll, specialty, and region, U.S. News says it measures the performance of each hospital using data provided by the U.S. Hospital CMS Association, professional organizations and medical experts.
In addition to the usual metrics, three new cancer ratings have been added this year: ovarian, prostate and uterine cancer surgery.US NEWS has also added an expanded set of A health equity measure designed to highlight which hospitals provide more care to low-income patients and which hospitals have racial disparities in certain surgical outcomes.
“For consideration of where to obtain Patients Care, Best Hospitals Ranking is designed to help them and their medical professionals identify hospitals that excel in the care they may need, Director of Health Analytics at U.S. News Ben Harder, editor-in-chief, said in a statement. “The new cancer ratings provide patients facing prostate or gynecologic cancer surgery with previously unavailable information to help them make critical health care decisions.”
