Workers filed a union election application with the NLRB on April 3. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) must certify unions before they can begin negotiating.
The new union is named United Employees Guild Improvement SEGA (AEGIS), which includes most of the office’s staff from different departments: Quality Assurance, Localization, Field Service, Marketing and Product Development. This makes AEGIS the first video game union in the United States to consist of employees from multiple divisions. With over 117 members, it is the largest multi-sector organized workers union in the gaming industry.
AEGIS is partnering with the Communications Workers Association of America (CWA) and its organization, the Movement for Digital Employees (CODE).
