Serena runs in her last major

Serena Williams is not expected to win the 2022 U.S. Open, but she is the star of the event. Williams announced that the bout would be her last as a pro. Once she wins or gets knocked out, she plans to retire.

Once that happens, it will mark the end of the career of the best player of her era, and one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Williams’ contribution to the game cannot be overstated. She has won 23 majors, the most of any player in the Open Era, male or female. She also helped develop the sport, inspiring countless professional players – many of whom will compete in the 2022 U.S. Open.

Given her illustrious career, Williams deserves a big send-off. We’ll be following her every match as she makes her last appearance at the 2022 U.S. Open.

She won her first-round match 6-3 on Monday, beating Montenegro’s Danka Kovinic 6-3. Her second round on Wednesday will mark a tough task as she faces world No. 2 Anett Kontaveit.
