'She-Hulk' lead writer Gojessica explains how the Hulk Recast nod came to be

[This story contains spoilers for She-Hulk: Lawyer of the second episode of “The Law of Superman”]

Obviously, the fourth episode is a kind of charm. She-Hulk: Lawyer Lead Writer Jessica High .

Marvel Studios’ latest Disney+ series featuring Jen Walters’ ( Tatiana Maslany Centered ) Transformed into She-Hulk, the executive producer’s fourth introduction at Marvel. Of the three previous rejections, one of them, for Black Widow , was basically Natasha Romanoff’s version of Grosse Pointe Blank . But those previous mistakes were actually the best thing that could happen to Gao.

“I just thought, ‘What’s the fourth [rejection]? I’ve got armor. I don’t care. I don’t have anything to live with other than this project. So The [She-Hulk] show I pitched to them that day was basically the show we made,” Gao told The Hollywood Reporter .

In the second episode of She-Hulk, “The Law of Superman”, MCU finally acknowledges the Bruce Banner/Hulk recast that takes place after Edward Norton-led film, Incredible Hulk (681). According to Gao, Mark Ruffalo took over from 2012 Norton The Avengers , for a nod to the recast.

“[Writer Jacqueline Gales] was like, ‘You gotta get him to say, ‘I’m a whole different person now,'” and Mark Actually added “literal”. So if “literal” existed, I wonder if [Marvel Studios] would flag it, but I’m always amazed at how willing they are to let us make fun of things and actually point them out,” High share.

In a recent conversation with THR, Gao also talked about her unique relationship with Marvel Studios Relationship boss Kevin Feige, while also explaining the impact of her show on Shang Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings.

Cheetos and chopsticks are simply life hacks. Have you used this method for a long time?

Oh, I only eat Flamin’ Hot Cheetos with chopsticks because it’s genius. It keeps your fingers clean!

As you expected, you pulled all the Yet? Pause for your pitch?

certainly. you must. When Marvel comes knocking, you have to drop everything and spend a few weeks of your life convincing them to give you a job. [She-Hulk] Actually my fourth pitch at Marvel. I’ve been trying to get through this door for years, so when She-Hulk rolls around, I’m ready for three Marvel rejections. So I just thought, “What’s the fourth? I’ve got armor. I don’t care. I don’t have anything to live on except for this project.” So the show I pitched to them that day was basically the show we made. I mean, there are bits and pieces of detail thrown away here and there along the way, but essentially it’s the same show.

“I’m totally different now. Literally.” When that nod to the Hulk Recast was written into the script, part of you Does one expect those forces to arise and put it on it?

So this sentence was written by Jacqueline Gales, who is a very interesting writer. She was like, “You have to get him to say, ‘I’m totally different now'” and Mark [Ruffalo] actually added “literally.” So if the “literal” existed, I wonder if they’d flag it, but I’m always amazed at how willing they are to let us make fun of things and actually point them out.

The fourth wall material is very interesting because it interacts with Marvel fans and their various actions (like cameo pinning). When you write a lot of guest speeches, isn’t all the WandaVision cameo theories happening a lot?

No, the line about the cameo actually came much later. As we browsed the posts and looked at the episodes, it really felt like there were a lot of cameos. But it’s always been a cameo-heavy show by nature, just because the half-hour legal comedy format allows us to get a lot of people involved in a week’s case or a single lawsuit settled in an episode. So there’s always a danger that it feels like it’s a cameo of the week, and in She-Hulk’s great tradition, when she notices something, she points it out to the audience.

Are you glad your Jen Walters beat Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and even broke the MCU’s fourth wall?

Yes, as any good comic reader knows, she did it first in the comics. So it’s really, really nice to have it as a canon in the MCU.

are you Must start with a humanoid Dr. Bruce Banner because Shang Chi ‘s tag says he is human?

No, because of our show, he was in Shangzhi The tag becomes humanoid, and the reason we made him humanoid is because of the nature of the accident. We knew we wanted him to bleed on Jen, and that’s how she got his blood. The Hulk doesn’t bleed; you can’t pierce the Hulk’s skin, certainly not through a tiny car accident. So we need to make him human in order to get his gamma radiated blood into Jen and into her system, we have to figure out why he’s human.

So you and Kevin Feige got into an argument over the trailer?

(laughs.) Yes, I might And Kevin more than anyone at Marvel, but it really shows what a selfless and wonderful person he is, and he often endures me arguing with him. He really made me bully him in a way. I was mean to him and he really allowed it. So it’s really good because no other studio president will really put up with me like he does.

Are you proud of me for the fact that you made Mark Ruffalo say “bruh”?

(laugh.) This is Mark!

This question was asked at the beginning of the series, but in the real world, if someone gains a power like ren, you think they have a duty to provide help? others?

Yes, I believe that with great power comes great responsibility, which is very similar to having any kind of privilege. You do have a responsibility to help people and use that privilege.

Close up of a few upcoming items that Benedict Wong is excited about “Wonger” nickname?

I hope so, because I’m pretty confident that from now on, everyone will call him.

Does part of you feel guilty for being spoiled

The Sopranos for Gen Z/Alpha Marvel fans?

No, they’ve been watching it for over a decade, if you haven’t seen The Sopranos, one of the greatest shows in the world, is on you.
