Qualcomm’s next flagship SoC is about to be released, so it’s only natural that rumors start popping up frequently. The latest news comes from the well-known Twitter on Weibo, Digital Chat Station , which hints that Qualcomm may launch two different versions of the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Standard Edition will be business as usual, but there will also be high frequency iterations, which should increase clock speeds significantly. Currently, the Prime core of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 runs at 3.19 GHz, while the high frequency option will provide at least 3.4-3.5 GHz.
We suspect it will be the exact same chipset, but some units will be able to sustain higher clock speeds after some binning at the factory , therefore the UHF version of the SoC. The report also suggests that there will be significant improvements in the GPU department.
According to previous rumors, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be based on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process, it will be iQOO 11, in several other among the ten flagships.
Finally, the tipster hinted that the next chip in MediaTek’s Dimensity lineup will offer another impressive performance leap in the CPU department, potentially closing the gap between Dimensity and Snapdragon even further .
