Sony just announced new higher prices for the PlayStation 5 in Europe, UK, Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America and Canada. The price hike affects two versions of the console – the digital version and the PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive.
Sony cited a challenging global economic environment, high inflation and currency challenges as reasons for the price increase. The company says its priority is to improve PS5 supply, making it difficult for eager buyers to find the most popular console.

Price increases are unlikely to have a negative impact on sales. Sony was a huge success with the PlayStation 5, surpassing Microsoft’s Xbox. According to Ampere Analysis, Sony has shipped 39 As of June, millions of PS5s 629 while Microsoft only shipped 13.800 000.
