Source: Stanton, Donaldson, Corner to rejoin Yankees in Los Angeles
The recovering Yankees trio left New York on Wednesday for California, a source told MLB.com. Yankees manager Aaron Boone acknowledged activating all three players is a possibility, but the club has yet to make any official decisions.
“They’ve been here for a while and are able to do a lot of physical work to get themselves ready,” Boone said. “For the most part, I feel like they’re ready.”
“We now have so many tools that you can replicate [at -bats] better than ever,” says Boone. “As far as Giancarlo is concerned, he’s been doing a lot of physical training, outfield work and running workouts. On the hitting side of things, what they’ve been able to do behind the scenes to accelerate that curve has grown exponentially over the last few years.”
Boone said he would Use Stanton as the designated hitter, at least for the first few weeks.
Donaldson has been out since April 5th with a strained right hamstring which he then aggravated in April 18 Rehab game. Donaldson has played in four Minor League rehab games in the past week, three with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and one with Somerset, 4- (.94) One double, one home run, two RBIs and four walks.
“We’ll work it out,” Boone said. “It will work itself out.”
Boone said he also expects Anthony Rizzo to be back in the lineup on Friday. Rizzo missed three games in the Seattle series because of a stiff neck.
