SEATTLE – Here comes the cavalry. Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Donaldson and Tommy Kahnle are all flying to the West Coast for what to add to build a more complete Yankees roster for Friday’s series opener against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

The recovering Yankees trio left New York on Wednesday for California, a source told MLB.com. Yankees manager Aaron Boone acknowledged activating all three players is a possibility, but the club has yet to make any official decisions.

“They’ve been here for a while and are able to do a lot of physical work to get themselves ready,” Boone said. “For the most part, I feel like they’re ready.”

The Dodgers series is expected to be home to Stanton, the Most Valuable Player in last year’s All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium and the Los Angeles Tujunga product area.

Although Stanton has He has played in just one minor league rehab game since tearing his left hamstring in July 04 — Double-A Somerset went 0-3 with a walk Tuesday — Boone said that wouldn’t necessarily stop him from rejoining the Yankees’ roster.

“We now have so many tools that you can replicate [at -bats] better than ever,” says Boone. “As far as Giancarlo is concerned, he’s been doing a lot of physical training, outfield work and running workouts. On the hitting side of things, what they’ve been able to do behind the scenes to accelerate that curve has grown exponentially over the last few years.”

Stanton said Tuesday in Somerset, N.J., that hitting the ball with the pitching machine was “very close, speed-wise, but it’s still not the same thing [against the pitcher]. I’ve got to get used to it soon.”

Boone said he would Use Stanton as the designated hitter, at least for the first few weeks.

“I need to [in the outfield]. I need to keep going,” Stanton said. “It’s better for the team too, so that’s what I have to do.”

Donaldson has been out since April 5th with a strained right hamstring which he then aggravated in April 18 Rehab game. Donaldson has played in four Minor League rehab games in the past week, three with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and one with Somerset, 4- (.94) One double, one home run, two RBIs and four walks.

cloth En said he hopes Donaldson will return to being the Yankees’ third baseman. DJ LeMahieu will return to a utility role between first base, second base and third base.

“We’ll work it out,” Boone said. “It will work itself out.”

Kahnle missed most of spring training with right biceps tendinitis and has yet to make his season debut. The right-hander scored 1 in five appearances in minor league rehab across three levels. 19 ERA passes allow single-A Tampa, Somerset and Scranton/Williams Erkes Barry scored one run in five innings.

“It’s always worth it when you’re finally done rehabbing and coming back to the team to help out, not on the training bench,” Kahnle said Tuesday.

Boone said he also expects Anthony Rizzo to be back in the lineup on Friday. Rizzo missed three games in the Seattle series because of a stiff neck.
