Spotify has announced that it will be removing the heart icon today. But don’t worry, it’s all for a higher purpose.
Spotify said in a blog post that previously, you had the heart icon to “mark songs you wanted to save,” and the “add to playlist” icon to add a track or episode to your favorite playlist.
From now on, you will see a plus icon. When you tap the plus sign, you can save and choose a destination for any song, playlist, or podcast with just one tap.
To save a song or podcast episode, tap the plus button. The plus sign will change to a green tick after your selection has been successfully added to Favorites or Your Episodes. Clicking on the green checkmark will allow you to change the destination where the content is saved. Clicking the plus sign also adds an entire album, playlist, or audiobook to your library.
Spotify says it is an ongoing effort to “create a more intuitive experience — all of which will make it easier for you to engage with the music and podcasts you love,” the latest move.
The new plus icon/button is rolling out today to all users on iOS and Android, and will be rolling out to other platforms “in the coming weeks”.
