It didn’t take long for Ryan McCollum to start his next NFL opportunity. One day after being waived by the Detroit Lions, the Pittsburgh Steelers waived the second-year offensive lineman.
McCollum was part of the first wave of roster cuts for Detroit. He was waived on Monday along with TE Nolan Givan and TE Garrett Griffin, veterans with vested interests. McCollum, 24, joined the Lions as an undrafted rookie from Texas A&M in 2021 and earned minutes. McCollum even started Week 14 with a loss in Denver as injuries piled up.
The Lions have until next Tuesday, August 23rd going from 85 to 80 players.
