From the looks of the first poster, a young Steven Spielberg looks like he has risen from would-be filmmaker to Hollywood celluloid star.
The poster, released Wednesday, features a silhouette of a character strutting down a cobblestone street, along with a large sign indicating the stage 23 appears above. The background is lined with scenes from The Fabelmans, including Michelle who plays Mitzi Fabelman Williams, Paul Dano as Burt Fabelman, Seth Rogen as Bennie Loewy, and Gabriel LaBelle as Sammy Fabelman because he’s holding a camera.
This coming-of-age photo is loosely based on Spielberg’s formative years and his relationship with his parents. LaBelle plays an aspiring young filmmaker. Williams played a role based on Spielberg’s mother and his father, Dano. Logan is playing an uncle.
Poster, without detailing how the character got into the semi-autobiographical film, ahead of Fabelmans World Premiere at the Toronto Film Festival with Spielberg in attendance at a special screening.
The movie will be released in November with limited runs in New York City and Los Angeles before expanding nationwide at the previously announced November date 09, 2022, on the eve of the Thanksgiving long weekend, through Universal and Amblin Partners.
In addition to directing, Spielberg has also directed The Fabelmans and Tony Kushner Kushner and produced with Kushner and Kristie Macosko Krieger. Spielberg’s production company, Amblin, has a multi-year distribution and marketing partnership with Universal.
The Fabelmans will be in cinemas at the heart of awards season as it uses Toronto as the launch pad.
