From the arcade screens to the big screen, the second trailer for Illumination’s Super Mario Bros. movie features Princess Peach and Donkey Kong for the first time.
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, this action-comedy is the first animated film based on Nintendo’s popular video game. From a screenplay by Matthew Fogel, the film stars Christ Pratt, Seth Rogen, Jack Black , Anya Taylor-Joy, Keegan-Michael Key and Charlie Day.
In a new trailer released Tuesday, the animated film shows Mario (voiced by Pratt) entering an arena to face off against Donkey Kong (voiced by Logan). It then cuts to Luigi (voiced by Day) being threatened by Bowser (voiced by Black), also known as the King of Koopa, who is looking for Mario. The trailer goes on to preview snippets of Mario and Luigi’s journey to rescue the captured Princess Peach (voiced by Taylor Joy).
“Come on, Mario. Our big adventure begins now,” Toad (voiced by Key) says in the trailer, and the action-packed adventure that Mario continues of. In the trailer, Mario and his crew can be seen traveling through the mushroom world, following the rainbow road, jumping over obstacles to face Bowser and save the princess.
