“We’re just starting to offer this solution,” Will Rose, CTO of Talent Select AI, said in a Zoom interview with VentureBeat. He said the company believes it will benefit both employers and job candidates by eliminating the need for psychometric testing as a separate step in the interview process.
Rose said Talent Select’s AI model matches job candidates’ word choices and conversational context (using only text transcripts, not audio or video) to analyze their psychometrics and personality traits.
As Roth points out, this is because other types of tools that specifically focus on visual information or tone of voice may run the risk of bias against certain racial or ethnic groups. “We see a lot of pitfalls out there because of cultural differences and how other people interpret those differences,” Ross noted. “In our case, we look strictly at the text.”
“We can determine from text alone how well a candidate fits a particular role or company culture,” Ross continues . “These are predictions of job performance and job results.” Promising initial results
Talent Select’s API launches in early 2023, promising “unbiased candidates Human Insights” and has since made initial improvements, reducing time-to-hire by over 50% – hiring candidates from underrepresented groups by 80% and 98% of users reporting more confidence in selection decisions .
Rose declined to tell VentureBeat which clients Talent Select AI has served so far, citing non-disclosure agreements, but said “we are working with existing providers.”

Fast forward to today, psychometrics employs advanced computer algorithms and complex mathematical models, such as Item Response Theory (IRT) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), to design and evaluate psychological test.
However, the field has been subject to controversy and criticism regarding the validity and reliability of psychometric testing in different populations and contexts, and the ethical and societal implications of these tests for high-stakes decision-making . , and the philosophical and epistemological assumptions underpinning psychometric models and methods. Even the creator of the famous Myers-Briggs test says it shouldn’t be used to make hiring decisions.
Notwithstanding, as stated above, there is still a market for other similar tools and Talent Select AI believes it has developed a new, improved, more streamlined and efficient version.
