Immediately after Taylor Hill’s wedding this June, the model began to hear a siren call.
“I spent the summer with my long hair, but then I just started to get an itch,” she tells Vogue from her Manhattan apartment. “I cut my hair into a bob in 2020, and while I loved how it felt, I knew I wanted to try something different. I immediately started working on a mood board.”
Of course, there were shots of fellow models and short hair icons like Linda Evangelista and Shalom Harlow, as well as Audrey Hepburn and street style shots of people Hill didn’t know but simply “liked the look of their hair.”
The chop itself actually happened on the set of a photo shoot. In the days before, she recognized the name of the lead hairstylist, Takuya Yamaguchi, because he had worked under legendary Victoria Secret Fashion Show hairstylist Akki Shirakawa. “I already knew he was talented, especially when it comes to shaping and cutting,” she says. “It really felt like kismet.”
