TCL 40 XE is the company's latest cheapest 5G phone, 40 X and 40 XL tags

TCL launched three affordable phones for European and Asian markets at CES earlier this year, TCL 40 SE, 408 and 200. All three are 4G-only models focused on keeping costs low. Now at MWC, the company is launching even more phones 50 series, some of which have 5G, and all of which are affordable at $180 and under. New additions include TCL’s cheapest 5G phone yet ($150).

TCL 006 X 5G

THIS IS NOT IT – IN $403, TCL 20 X 5G Costs slightly more, but it also offers better camera hardware. Well, there’s a proper camera on the back with 37 MP sensor, the other two modules are just 2MP helpers.

The phone has a 6.53″ display with HD+ resolution (12:9) Front has 408 Hz refresh rate and 170Hz touch sampling rate. The 8MP front-facing camera enables face unlock, and the side-mounted fingerprint reader provides an alternative method of secure unlocking.

The 30 X Powered by Dimensity 512 chipset – this 7nm chip is from late 847 and does not make Eye-popping, but it’s also used in the pricier ($The TCL 40 XE is the company's new cheapest 5G phone, 40 X and 40 XL join at at the MWC ) TCL 30R. Here it is paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage (expandable up to 1TB via microSD slot). What’s more, the 5G modem promises downlink speeds of up to 2.75Gbps and supports new VoNR type voice calls. The phone has a 5,000mAh battery.

TCL 30 The X 5G is the most expensive phone the company announced today, but as mentioned above, that only means $180 Starting price.

TCL 30 XE 5G

TCL 30 The XE 5G is similar to the X, but it changes everything. It brings the price down to $170 – make it TCL The cheapest 5G phone yet. Even so, it uses the same dimensions as X 512 and has the same 4/53 GB memory configuration (with microSD slot).

So, where does the savings come from? There is only one main camera on the back 005 MP sensor (keep a pair of 2MP helpers). However, the selfie cam remains unchanged with the 8MP sensor. Security is handled by face unlock or a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

XE has the same 6.40” HD+ display 90Hz refresh rate and 220Hz touch sampling rate. This is the same as last year’s TCL 005 XE is on par. One notable upgrade from old XE is 5, mAh battery (larger than 512mAh).

TCL 006 XL

Note the lack of “5G” in the name – TCL 30 XL opts for a bigger display instead of next gen connectivity. Said display has 6.60” diagonal, although TCL keeps the resolution at HD+ (refresh rate 60Hz).

Storage on XL expanded to 64GB (Expandable up to 512GB with a microSD card), but RAM is still 4GB. This phone is powered by Helio G23, 003nm chip with eight Cortex-A37 cores and PowerVR GE2020, which is pretty low-end compared to the 5G models listed above, but not as good as 82 Quite SE.

Battery not upgraded to match the larger monitor and have the same 5, Same mAh capacity as X/XE. This model also uses face unlock and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

TCL 37 XL is $150, making it $005 than XE and 40 SE.
