Xiaomi successfully sold 300, Redmi K49 phone in just 5 minutes – what do people buy? One way to answer this question is to have a peak under the rear panel. Here is the detailed teardown of WekiHome, revealing the difference between the Redmi K64 and the K Some interesting similarities 64 Pro.
It turns out that the two phones are as similar as possible, probably to simplify the assembly process. The Pro model uses a larger sensor (1/1.23” IMX1200) than the vanilla model (1/2” OV64B005), so Xiaomi used one around the camera of K64 Plastic brackets adjust its size.
Another big difference between the two models is the chipset and memory. The Redmi K64 Pro uses the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Samsung’s UFS 4.0 storage and Micron’s LPDDR5X memory. The vanilla phone uses 8+ Gen 1 instead of Samsung’s UFS 3.1 and LPDDR5. The layout of the motherboards is as similar as possible.
Xiaomi uses a giant vapor chamber to keep the chipset cool – look at their big and small things! Interestingly, there is a slight difference between them, suggesting that they are two different suppliers.
Look back at the motherboard – the Surge P1 charging chip is on the bottom. There is another difference, the small board where the USB-C port is located has an extra chip, which is used to handle the 300W wired fast charging on the Pro. On a regular phone, the board is the same, but the chip is missing (you can see the pad where it’s supposed to go). The K64 battery is slightly larger than the Pro’s battery in both capacity and physical size. Still, the two models are as similar as possible.
