Tonight, the 18 Annual Critics’ Choice Awards kick off at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony, hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler, honored the best film and television performances of the year. Following last week’s rerun of the Golden Globes, the red carpet event continued with glitzy awards style; oversized silhouettes in particular proved to be the breakout trend of the night, with Hollywood A-listers adorning themselves with big ruffles or Trailing formal design.
The night is presented by the Critics’ Choice Award frontrunner for Best Actor. Michelle Yeah, wearing a black and pink Carolina Herrera suit with a pink ruffled cape, brushed the floor behind her. Elle Fanning wears Alexander McQueen printed tulle gown in a 18 century silhouette with scalloped skirt. Meanwhile, Michelle Williams got even more stylish in a Louis Vuitton column dress with a gold disco-inspired finish.
Meanwhile, the best-dressed men are taking a new approach to the traditional suit. Miles Teller paired a black Gucci tuxedo with a classic black bow tie, while Henry Golding opted for a velvety green tuxedo with a touch of color. Matt Smith proves you can’t wear a tie at all – instead, he’s wearing a silk shirt with a tie hanging loose around his neck. It is still played according to the rules of evening wear, but it feels more modern and cool. Dressed stars from the 18 Critics’ Choice Awards. What are some of your favorite celebrity looks?
