Hollywood men have traditionally played it safe on the red carpet — but that’s finally changing. Gone are the days when A-list men only wore a classic suit or tuxedo. In fact, judging by this year’s best menswear looks, they may soon be outliers. Instead, men have opted for bolder fashion choices this year, with suits ranging from sculptural and playful (see: Justin Bieber’s XXL Balenciaga suit at the Grammys) to wildly dramatic (see : Lil Nas X’s giant feather headdress, worn by Harris Reed, to the VMAs). In honor of this exciting transformation, then, Vogue is looking back at the most exciting and adventurous men of the year.
When Timothée Chalamet walked the red carpet for the Bones and All premiere in Venice, he opted for sparkly Red open back halter top from Haider Ackermann. Talk about accidents! Another sensational look? Wesley Snipes wore a silk blazer and matching bermuda shorts to this year’s Oscars, both by Givenchy. It’s an ensemble that no one could have predicted at all, and yet we’re still talking about it months later. We couldn’t fathom how Snipes could pull off such a tricky outline with such ease.
Not that every award-winning red-carpet look for men this year has been as striking. There are more cryptic options that still have an impact. For example, Reservation Dogs
star D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai has paired classic tailoring with his own locally crafted jewelry on more than one occasion. Leslie Odom Jr. leans toward more elaborate, brightly colored suits, as he did at the Glass Onion Los Angeles premiere last month Oversized, light blue Dolce & Gabbana fit.
from subtle to extreme , the most photographed event of the year proved that Hollywood men are stepping outside their comfort zones in search of more memorable outfits. In 2023, something tells us this isn’t going to slow down yet. Let’s talk!
Below are the best dressed men of the year.
