The 70 Best Romantic Comedies of All Time

A cynical Pittsburgh weatherman (Bill Murray) and his producer Rita (Andie MacDowell) are sent to Penxutony, Pennsylvania, on a dead-end assignment: reporting on soil dials rat day. Boy, is this a dead end? Mind you, Murray is stuck there, not just in one snowstorm, but in a continuous loop where no matter what he does—including suicide—he wakes up in the same hotel on the same day. At first, the weatherman is predictably frustrating, but eventually, he uses all the information he gets in the same day of his life over and over again to improve his own life and the lives of those around him, and eventually his personality change leaves Rita impressed. It’s fun to watch Bill Murray, it’s fun to watch Bill Murray struggle, it’s fun to watch Bill Murray stuck in a deadlock, chasing Andie MacDowell and wrestling with moral philosophy at the same time.
