Discount Tire tops the Consumer Reports survey, scoring a 90 out of 92, but like the Tire Rack, it scores better on the Free Perks scale Low. However, most complaints relate to specific discount tire locations.

Costco
Costco is a members-only big box store that sells many items at discounted prices and in bulk. For just $60 a year, members can access more than 700 stores nationwide. Some Costcos offer tire and wheel retail and installation services.
Start your tire search with Costco’s tire selector tool, where you can search for the right tires for your car based on your year, make and model, license plate or size. If you’re in the market for wheels, you can, too, although Costco only sells Velox wheels on their website. Once you have your tires selected, you can choose a store to ship them to and install them, and make an appointment from there. The tires are then shipped to the Costco of your choice where you can install them. Not every Costco has a tire center, so be sure to check online before heading to the store.
Costco continually trades tires of various brands, including its “1 Cent” Install Deal specific tires. It also carries a variety of tires, including Goodyear, Michelin, Firestone and Bridgestone. One of the great things about buying through Costco is that it comes with a five-year road hazard warranty. When you install your tires at Costco, you also get a free set of features including free lifetime balance (of the tires), spins, flat repairs, air pressure checks, and new rubber valves and stems. Costco also offers an exchange service if you bring your car to a Costco tire center. It does not communicate online and does not offer mobile installations. You must take your vehicle to a Costco tire center to install tires.
In Consumer Reports’ survey, Costco received only a “good” score for selection, waiting area and installation time. It scores from “very good” to “excellent” in the other four categories.

Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club is another large, membership, warehouse retailer that sells and installs tires and other merchandise . Owned by Walmart, it has nearly 600 stores, but not all of them carry tires for sale and installation. For $45 a year, you can get into any Sam’s Club in the country. There’s also a $100 membership that gets you even more perks like cash back and free shipping.
To buy tires at Sam’s Club, you can use their online portal to choose the tires that suit your needs. You can select tires based on the year, make and model of your vehicle, or search by tire size. Once you’ve selected the right tires, a search will reveal where those tires are available in your local area. If they are not available, you can order them and have them shipped to your local Sam Tire center where you can install them. Sam’s Club says that once you order the tires, it will email you within three to five days to let you know when the tires will arrive. You can then schedule an installation appointment. Sam’s Club does not offer mobile installation services.
Like Costco, Sam’s Club offers lifetime (tire) balancing, rotation, flat repair, air pressure checks, and new rubber valves and stems. It also includes emergency roadside assistance as well as road hazard protection, although as always there are some issues like if you have new tires you still have to pay for the installation.
Sam’s Clubs does have some limited deals and discounts on specific tire packages, so it’s worth checking their website to see what works for you.
Sam’s Club does not have a BBB rating, and in Consumer Reports’ survey, the company scored an 86 out of 91. It received good reviews for selection, installation time, waiting areas and sales service. It scored ‘excellent’ and ‘very good’ in the other three divisions.

Goodyear Tire
According to Goodyear, there are more than 1,100 Goodyear tire and auto service centers nationwide outlets. Goodyear is one of the world’s largest tire suppliers and manufacturers. It is also the maker of tire brands such as Dunlop and Kelly. Goodyear does not sell tire brands other than company-owned tire brands in its stores or on its website. However, you can find Goodyear tires (and its affiliate brands) at other tire stores and online.
Goodyear offers an online tire selector that you can use to select the right tires for your vehicle. You can search by vehicle, tire size and even your license plate. The system uses your public vehicle record to match your vehicle’s right tire. If it doesn’t find the right tire for you, I suggest you get in touch with a local store. If the system does find the right tire for you, you can filter for the type of tire you’re looking for (such as performance, off-road, summer, or all-season), speed and load ratings, and discounts. As of this writing, most rebate offers include signing up for a credit card.
Once you have selected your tires, you can ship them to your local Goodyear tire installer and schedule an appointment through the website. One thing to note: Goodyear only offers tires — so no custom wheel and tire packages.
Goodyear also offers various warranties on its tires. Depending on the type of tire you purchase, these may include a limited treadwear warranty or a tire replacement limited warranty. Goodyear also offers a 30-day grace period to decide whether you want to return your tires—whether you buy them online or at one of their stores. However, the tire replacement warranty is not a road hazard warranty.
Goodyear also offers contactless mobile mounting. You choose the right tire, check it, and Goodyear will send a mobile installer to your home to install the new tire. You pay by credit card, so you don’t need to contact the installer. The cost is the same as installing tires at the store (and based on your vehicle).
Goodyear has a very strict return policy. After the 30-day window, tires cannot be returned or replaced unless there is a problem with the tire, such as a manufacturing error. If you decide to return the tires before they are installed, all you have to do is call Goodyear and cancel the order.
Goodyear only received “good” (not “excellent”) ratings in categories such as choice, free benefits, and installation time in Consumer Reports Its ratings are slightly lower than other retailers.

Firestone Car Maintenance
Like Goodyear, Bridgestone and its partner Firestone offer a combination of brick-and-mortar and online stores to help consumers purchase the right Bridgestone, Firestone, Primewell for their vehicle or Fuzion tires. Like Goodyear, Bridgestone does not sell any brand of tires other than those made by the company, nor does it sell wheels and tire kits. You can find Bridgestone and Firestone tires online and at other tire retailers in real life.
The company is slightly larger than Goodyear, with more than 2,200 stores nationwide. Both Bridgestone and Firestone offer online tire selectors to help you find the right tires for your vehicle. You can shop by vehicle type, tire size, tire type or brand on both sites. You can also shop through specials. Once you’ve selected your tires, the site guides you to find them locally and make an appointment with the store of your choice. When you select this option, you’ll notice places like Costco appear as install locations (more on that below). While Bridgestone only offers mobile installations (at no additional cost) in one location in the country (Nashville), Firestone does not offer mobile installations through its site. You must take the vehicle to one of the installers.
Bridgestone and Firestone both offer various warranties on their tires. Both come with a 90-day trial and purchase guarantee, and if you’re not satisfied with the tires (even if those 90 days remain on your car), you can return the tires. The only catch is that you have to buy four tires. Firestone offers a warranty for up to three years. It calls it the Gold Promise Warranty, and it comes with your Firestone tire purchase. Both companies also offer road hazard protection warranties for the first 2/32 of the tire tread wear when you install your tires at Firestone Complete Auto or other relevant tire installers.
Firestone Complete gets a ‘good’ score for choice, free perks and installation time in Consumer Reports research.

Big O tires
Big O Tire is a brick-and-mortar tire retailer and installer with more than 400 locations, primarily in the West and Midwest. Like NTB, it’s owned by TBC and basically covers where NTB doesn’t.
The store offers a wide variety of tires and wheels (including its own Big O brand), and you can search for tires and wheels for your vehicle. You can search by year, make and model, tire size or, like Goodyear, by your license plate number. Once you’ve established an estimate, you can book an appointment at your local Big O and have your tires installed. It offers various discounts and rebates, as well as credit cards with rebates and coupons.
Big O and its affiliated retailers offer a variety of tire warranties, including an impressive three-year repair or replacement road hazard warranty on Big O branded tires, and a 12-month/ 12,000-mile nationwide limited repair warranty. It also offers an upgraded tire protection kit for a fee that depends on the type of tires you buy. This covers your road hazards and replacement issues, just like the NTB. Big O also does not offer mobile installation.
Big O does not offer any kind of initial return grace period like other brick and mortar retailers listed here. Like the NTB, each Big O tire usually has its own rating and review on the BBB, although the TBC is rated A+. In a Consumer Reports survey, Big O scored 84 out of 91. It scored ‘good’ for selection, installation time and quality of waiting areas. It does score “excellent” for free perks, though.
Not all tire shops are created equal.

How we came to this list
For each retailer, we’ve looked at the following important factors that affect your bottom line and the volume you have to go through to get new tires. We took into account warranty, ease of installation, and cost, and used Consumer Reports’ recent tire retailer satisfaction survey to help determine how satisfied people are with purchasing from these national retailers, and how each company feels about the BBB rating.
The Consumer Reports survey looked at nine different segments of retailers across 29 countries. We also use CR’s estimated cost per tire as a reference point for comparison. We also spoke with Gene Petersen, head of the tire program at Consumer Reports, about the test. We reached out to Matt Edmonds, Executive Vice President of a renowned online tire retailer Contact Tire Rack for general tips on finding the right tire for you and saving money in the process.
If you’re looking for a healthy tire option, head over to Big O tires are not a bad idea.

What to Consider When Buying Tires
According to Peterson, there are more than 33,000 independent tire retailers in the United States. That means when you buy them, there’s a lot to sort out. Tire shops range in size and in the way they sell tires. From big-box stores like Costco and Sam’s Club to small local independent tire shops, everyone sells tires. Today, online retailers also make it incredibly easy to buy tires online and ship them directly to the location of your choice when you’re ready to install them.
The best way to get the most out of your tire shopping is to consider the full cost of buying and installing tires, suggests Petersen. “It’s not like a TV,” he said. “You buy a tire, and you still need someone to put it on your car.”
When buying a new tire, the first thing to do is determine the size that fits your vehicle and Features for your specific needs. To find the right size, look at the outer rim (also called the sidewall) of a rubber tire and find the combination of numbers and letters separated by slashes. You can also find your tire size by looking at the inner frame of the driver’s door.
Warehouse membership clubs like Sam’s Club are definitely worth it Consider tire shopping.
Sam’s Club
You should take into account your environment or something Things will drive (snow, icy, wet), the road conditions you will be driving on (sand, dirt, paved, concrete, asphalt), the type of driving you will be doing (sport, aggressive or cruising) at high speeds on the road) and how much you want to spend on new tires, among other considerations. Based on these factors, you can choose between all-season tires, summer tires, and winter tires. You need tires that have good traction and are less prone to uneven wear.
One thing to note, according to Edmonds, is that tire pricing depends heavily on a few things: what compound the tire itself is made of, and how much research and development cost. Tire companies invested in making these tires.
“Tires, like many other products, get what you pay for,” Edmonds said. “When you buy a more expensive tire, there’s more engineering and technical development behind that tire. All that makes them work.”
When choosing tires, it is very important to choose the right one that suits your driving needs.
Big O Tires
He also states that the minimum advertised price or MAP is the lowest price any dealer is allowed to sell tires at. If you find discounted tires, it’s likely because those tires are older and have been replaced by newer models.
“There is nothing wrong with 2-year-old tires that have been properly stored prior to sale,” Edmonds said. Proper storage means the tires have been stored in a temperature-controlled space inside, protected from weather and sunlight, he noted.
Most tire manufacturers (not dealers) offer treadwear warranties, but as Edmonds points out, they tend to be hard to take advantage of because there are usually a lot of caveats. You must also use the warranty directly through the manufacturer, not through the tire dealer you bought it from.

Another thing to consider, as Peterson points out: The biggest difference between buying tires in brick-and-mortar versus online stores is the variety of options. “Online retailers offer many different models and sizes of tires that may fit your car. Brick-and-mortar retailers won’t have all the models you might want to consider, and if they do, chances are they won’t “Not necessarily the size you need,” he said.
If you don’t want to venture out to buy tires online, NTB has an impressive array of options for brick-and-mortar stores.
NTB The tire is in where to buy
Finally, in the days of online shopping and delivery, tires just got easier. There are plenty of places to go Choice, as long as the tires you want and need are in stock, buying tires online is just as good a choice as buying them at a tire store. While prices may vary slightly, Peterson says it’s a bargain when it comes to installation, warranty, and other things Costs more. Tire prices are largely set by the manufacturer and installers rarely have any leeway to negotiate.
“I always tell people to look at buying new tires Total cost,” Peterson said. “No matter what tires you get, you can often save money on installation, warranty, rotation, wheel alignment or other perks the installer offers. ”
If you have trouble finding tires, your best bet is to try an online retailer such as Tire Rack and ship the tires directly to one of the local installers. If you need tires immediately, you may be at a nearby entity Shop to find better options – but be sure to check online for stock and installation appointments before you go.
