The Google Meet app for Android gets a new 'safety feature' while walking

In the latest APK teardown, 9to5Google has discovered a strange new feature in the Google Meets app for Android. Google seems to want to make conversations on the move more secure. That’s why the feature is called “On-the-Go”.

The feature itself is very simple – once the Meet is in the conference call detects that you are walking, it will ask you to activate the On-the-Go function. This will disable your webcam and turn off the other participant’s audio stream for you. However, other participants will not be affected.

Additionally, the app will enlarge most of the buttons on the screen to make them easier to press and see. The main idea is to minimize distractions. But once the phone’s motion sensor detects that you’re standing still, it switches back to the standard view.
