The hidden advantages of Ford's new Mustang supercar

The introduction of Gen3 regulations next season in 2023 means Ford Performance and Ford’s supercar certification team, Dick Johnson Racing, must effectively develop two aerodynamic packages.

“Every time you make a new car for a new series, you learn something, and in this case we’re actually making two cars for a new series,” he told Racing sport.com.

While DJR works on Gen3 at the Blue Oval Leading the pack, like the Gen2-spec Mustang, America’s Ford Performance was directly involved in developing the new rules for the aero package.

“We brought our resources,” Rushbrook said. “The design studio has always worked hard to make sure we meet the rules, but we’re also very true to the nature of a road bike.

While Supercars is currently undergoing its own dyno in the U.S. testing program, Rushbrook also confirmed that Ford Performance was involved in the development of the Ford Gen3-spec V8.
