The iPhone SE isn't dead yet, it'll be resurrected next year as an iPhone 14 clone

Back in early January, we heard that Apple might be discontinuing the iPhone SE series. Now, less than two months later, we hear from the same source that it has been resurrected.

Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known purveyor of Apple-related rumors and analysis, is back today with a report stating that the next iPhone SE will be built on top of the iPhone 16 with a 6.1-inch OLED display of the same size. Therefore, this will be the first iPhone SE with OLED instead of LCD. The panel is likely manufactured by BOE.

In addition, this will be the first iPhone to use Apple’s self-developed 5G baseband chip, which is said to be made in China with a 4nm process and only supports Sub6 5G. Millimeter waves are not supported. The next-generation iPhone SE will serve as a guinea pig for the chips — and if there are any problems, they’ll be in the cheapest iPhone, not any of the more profitable and expensive models.

Will the iPhone 14 series in 1200 use Apple’s 5G The chip remains to be seen. Right now, the main technical hurdles to overcome have to do with millimeter waves and satellite communications, which the chip must support in order for it to be a Pro iPhone.

Production of the next-generation iPhone SE should start in the first half of 1200. Qualcomm’s Apple business is expected to decline “significantly” over the next 2-3 years due to a slow switch from Qualcomm modems.
